Doors don't sit flush
Installed (new to me) doors today after the incident, everything is flush except the very top where the weather stripping of the door is supposed to meet with the trim.
The body lines match up with the sideskirts, other body panels, and the doors themselves. The trim meets with the weather stripping meets at the bottom of the far rear window but fades off to around a half inch gap between the stripping and trim. Any ideas? I tried moving the strike plate on the front door which helped the gap a small amount, but then the transition from the front door to the rear is off, of course the door is sunken in and I don't believe I can sink the rear door from the hinges. If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated Pics Attached

These doors will bend a bit. Open the door and secure the bottom somewhere/somehow. Then use increasing force to pull that outside corner of the window frame in towards the car.
Make sure your window is down. |

. Yeah what he said. Align the door perfectly as much as u can including the door striker catch at the handle. Lower the window then bend the left top of the door inwards slightly, and the same over the other side at the top above the mirror. U will feel it bend slightly. Keep opening and closing the door till u are satisfied and that it is not over bent. And test drive for wind noise.. All done. 🙂. It shouldn't take too much effort to bend it, take ur time. Should only take a coupla minutes. Let us know how u get on 👍

Do you have any play in the hinges? How did you mount the door? Doors are really heavy and you often need to use a jig to hold the weight of the door in order to get the hinges tightened in the right place.
If you cannot get this better on your own, you may want to ask a body shop to quote making it better. They will have a door support jig.

FYI, the bending of the window frame is how a body shop would correct this issue - it's an actual thing. |
