De badging - unhappy

Collective 5 years of having BMWs parked outside our house and last night somebody has carefully prised off our E91's rear badge and obviously had a go at the front one. The 323i up the street has suffered the same fate.

Last time this happened to me was in the 80's on an Alfa. Is this common nowadays - is there any point in replacing it?

And also, anyone had to buy one lately and can suggest where to purchase? Or do I just whip one off another BMW in the next street?

I remember when my father had a few E21's and E30's as I was growing up.... each and every one was de-badged, haha... in one particular case it was done by a friend of mine right in front of my mother (I was 8yo at the time, he was 13. Wanted to prove how easy it was to steal).

Stupid lowlives man. What are they worth... $10? lol

Get an upgraded roundel! - http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-roundels-emblems.html
I've heard good things about the roundels from khoalty.

SO what has been taken? The roundel or numbers? More importantly - are there any scratch marks?

they only cost $10-20

each time you get debadged, buy a new badge imo

I scratched my bonnet badge while washing the car last week (don't know how I did it) so if you find a good link for new OEM badges.. can you share it?

The rear roundel. There is a little scratch under where the badge sits and two little chips out of the edge of the front badge.

I like the idea of a grey one but it won't match the front and wheel badges.

Emblems have been stolen from my parents' cars before. Not so worried about the badge, but the nasty screwdriver scratch mark they left on the hood. Personally I prefer traditional blue/white roundels - not a fan of alternate colours.

As quickly as possible. Let these jealous sickos that you are PROUD to own a BMW. It will also help you forget about the unfortunate incident when you replace the stolen item(s) quickly.

My X5 got de-adge 2 month ago. Bloody annoying.

I got a new one from EBAY. It all looks the same and cost me $10 and had to wait for 4 days.

Another fad was to take dealer stickers. My dad's old car was bought from SVP Willoughby and it came with a little "SVM" badge. It was only ~1-2cms but these things were of value back in 03. One of my friends had dealer badges from BMW/Merc/Porsche/Audi... even his mum helped him to get them o.O Apparently they make good phone decorations.... I even saw the guy who took it from my dads car.

Update - no success.

There are heaps and heaps of front roundels online - 82mm. Also rear trunk 74mm ones for E90 sedans.

But I've measured the E90's badge spot and as far as I can tell it is somewhere between 77mm and 79mm. On line I can find 79mm badges for E92s 78mm badges for X5s and some older models but no listings for E91s aside from ones that say its the same as the sedan at 74mm.

Where the badge was on the wagon there are the numbers "77" - can't find a 77mm badge anywhere though.

Questions

1. Anyone else who has had their badge nicked recall if the number stamped on the panel was that of the replacement badge size (or is this coincidence).

2. Anyone here with a LCI wagon? Would really appreciate if you could measure the diameter of your badge as accurately as possible. Or failing that, send it to me - I'll send it back, promise....

Final option is to pay BMW $82 for a new one.

Id say its 74 but then again it could be an odd size on the wagon. Stop at the dealer next time and measure a car there.

If you know the sales rep well BMW might give you one for free. I complained about a small patch on mine and they replaced it no questions asked.

Thanks! Appreciate it SBC. Even if he can't, the part number/official roundel size would be really helpful
