I have a 2008 330d with cic must be one of the first, the maps are still 2008 and I don't have the little tick in the box on the screen in navigation so can only do updates via dvd at the moment I believe.
My question is would I be able to go from 2008 maps straight to 2018-1 if I had a Fsc code.

Shouldn't matter what maps you are coming from but no tick will mean you need to update via DVD not usb from the looks of it, will need some dual layer DVDs and the 3 parts update version.

Thank you for the reply, that's what I thought, I looked at generating my own Fsc code tonight but just couldn't work it out, downloading and burning the discs is straight forward but I just couldn't get my head around the code.
Any advice on best place to purchase a lifetime code?

Which bit didn't work? If you have the 1b file ok it's not too bad to get it working

To be honest, I downloaded the files in the link and got stuck there I tried to google how to use the programmes but in the end gave up, I'm not even sure how to get the 1b file.

On page 1 I linked to a script that will copy 1b file to usb. Just put script file on stick, plug usb stick in to car and wait about 30 seconds. Once you have the file it's just following a few steps, not too bad

Oh OK mate I think I get it now, I only have a USB in the glove box not the armrest, will that still work?

That's the one you would use for map updates so yes that one. Armrest one is for iPod etc

Hi Folks,

I know I'm on the wrong forum here but I cant find any decent instructions on how to pull the 1B file and then use the latest maps with the generated FCS code for my 2015 520i (I think that makes it a F10). I assumed that what would work on a 3 series would be the same for a 5 series. Seems not to be the case.

The main difference is that I do not have a glove box USB, only the one in the centre console. Not sure how important that is. The USB in the centre console id the one I used to update the I Drive software successfully.

Forgetting the 1B pulling for now. I used the 2108-1 link from earlier posts on this thread and popped them on the USB root as directed. When inserted into the centre console USB nothing happened....

When I tried using http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...0#post22736970 instructions on pulling the 1b with centre console....also nothing. I used 3 different USB sticks and no sign of the 1b hex file....

Surely the 3 and 5 series systems are the same....is it the non glove box usb that is tripping me up.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Finally got the maps downloaded, I have extracted them and have 3 folders
USB1
USB2
USB3
I've got imgburn installed
When I open imgburn I get the option to create image file from files or folders
Do I do this first then burn the created ISO to disc
Hope that makes sense

Hi guys,
Any advice on how I burn the 3 USB folders to dvd's so I can update that way, or have I downloaded the wrong maps, I can't see any iso files at all to burn within the 3 USB folders.

So i clicked the torrent file download and it has downloaded one file and one other folder called MACOSX. I have no idea what I am doing or how i get these three files.. Help someone please.

You will need to use something like utorrent to download the actual files now then unpack them to give the 3 USB folders

Will need something like utorrent to download the files from the torrent. The script is called copie_scr.sh I think so if you get that it's what you need to get 1b

Think you just need the 'write files/folders to disk' option and drag over the folders etc. Drag over everything in the usb1 folder and burn to disk, insert disk1 to car and if it likes what you did it will offer to update. Then you know same process for disk 2/3 will be fine. Ps burn as slow as possible, on right side img burn should show supported write speeds for disk, burn at the slowest speed offered

Ok great. To confirm: drag over the pkgdb folder and config.nfm file, they should be at top level of the disk, not inside any other folder.
