So I noticed me mpg decreasing a good 10% during a long trip, 400 miles on the highway, and additionally I sometimes heard a rattle sound when accelerating.

I didn't get any warning light or anything, but I got home and pulled the code 2AAB for the DISA.


I removed the DISA 1 for inspection and there is no play or visible fault in it. I don't believe the DISA is the issue.

I removed the solenoids, the intake one was slightly oily, the exhaust one more so. I wouldn't call them dirty, although they are perhaps not supposed to have oil on them? Anyways, I cleaned them and swapped them around (read somewhere you can try that).


After a test drive I got no engine error code and the mpg seems to be normal again. I guess cleaning the solenoids worked for now.
