Well now that this is bumped.. Anyone know the purpose of those panels on the rear bumper?

I imagine this is very similar to street fighter LA kit... Seriously looking at widebody kits for my 335i but may just go the route of bolting on all M3 parts and cutting up the rear end (I know a very body guy) but I'd rather not. Everything is too aggressive just want something a little wider than m3. Anyone have any advice.. building a track/streetcar, not a daily driver, but still want it to look clean not riced out.
