Yes, it's finally home... All I can say is wow! The LCI looks SO much better in real life than it does in pictures... Yes the tails are not the best, but they are better in real life... iDrive/navi is amazing! The car as a whole is great... I'm glad I waited for the '09!

The new iDrive is frankly amazing. I previously had a E39 MY99 with Nav (back when even dealers had never seen one), and since then owned or tried relative's cars with nav systems from Mercedes, Honda, Infiniti, and even a 2008 Lexus. The new iDrive is clearly superior to all of them, which is an amazing feat for BMW to achieve. I'm a techno-geek, and the new iDrive is like Santa brought everything we could ever want in such a system. And it's extremely fast - faster responding than my iPhone 3G for sure. BMW really did their homework this time!

I'd still like to see better codec support on ripping music from CD in-car (currently only 128kbps WMA is supported), and I'd like to see some kind of lossless codec support (Apple Lossless Support preferred, but I'd even settle for Windows Media Lossless), but my guess is that this is possibly upgradeable with software updates in the future....

I heard from a fellow poster that my car is sitting on the showroom floor with a "SOLD" sign on it. Unfortunately, I can't get up there until Friday or Saturday to take delivery. I hope they have it locked so every Tom, Dick, and Harry isn't sitting in it and drooling all over the interior. LOL.

I got lucky and was able to pick my up on a Saturday, after it had arrived at the dealership from the VPC on a Thursday. They need about a day to prep the car, so it was pretty much perfect timing for me.

Yes, at a minimum everyone at the dealership will be playing with the new iDrive, and I'd bet money that every potential 2009 customer will be shown the car, too. No way to guarantee that this isn't happening.

I could tell from the nav system that someone had been playing with it - no damage, but they certainly weren't searching for addresses in Mexico while the car was under construction in Munich.... (I picked my car up in LA)

Best approach is to get there ASAP and get the car.

My 335 coupe arrived at the dealer last weekend. I had my H&R springs, 19" M6 reps, and 20% tint installed at the dealer and I'm taking delivery tomorrow morning at 10am. Wish me luck.

I got the call last night - I can pick up my baby this afternoon. 90 days from order to delivery. Patience is definitely an overrated virtue!

Just a reminder - if you don't want the front plate mounted, be sure to be ALL OVER your CA about it from the time your car arrives at the VPC to the time you drive it home.

You may have seen on another thread that despite my request that a front plate holder not be put on my E90 LCI, the first thing I saw when I walked into the dealership was my car sitting there with a front plate holder on it, holes already drilled and all. Ruined my experience.

Don't let that happen to you!
