dont get the sportage. I rented that last week. Get the maxima. The moon roof is like 9 inches wide.

Your car touched US soil about a month ago. I'd say they should give you a loaner.

oh, I called the 1-800 again and mentioned my conversation with the EPA. He said he would look into it. He said there was on email on sept 29th that said there may be turbos on hold and if people complain contact <somebody> at <some#>. So, he's going to follow up with <them>. He said there was no date or ETA in the email... just a "watch out for delays and give us feedback"

Good work sdslayer! Please keep us posted! BMW's lack of official communication on this is ridiculous!

Slightly offtopic...but I remember waiting for my car last year as it was taking a longer time than normal to clear the VPC. My SA wasn't being very informative and I was increasingly getting more and more impatient that I did some research and was able to call the VPC directly. Left a message and to my surprise one the managers returned my call. But I got a earful from my SA and his manager for calling them directly....but you guys might want to give it a try to get more information...

I turned in my 07 2 months ago based on a late September delivery date. Now it looks like early November. I've been scammed.

What pisses me off is that nobody is giving a definitive answer about the situation leaving lots of space for speculation...

+1

When I called the 800# a while ago to ask about this whole situation, they didn't say much, but one thing they did say was interesting. They said that once cars leave Germany, they don't have any tracking information.....and when I asked why that is, given that we can get that info from owners circle (although sometimes behind), and they're located somewhere in the East, they said it's because once the cars leave Germany, they actually belong to the dealers.

So I've been thinking all along that given the current economic situation, with BMW announcing poor sales, etc. you'd think they would try a little harder to keep buyers happy (i.e. tell us what's going on!) Then I realized that BMW probably isn't too concerned about keeping us happy, because these cars are basically already sold to the dealers, and us by extension.

If I didn't really love the car that's sitting at the VPC with my name on it, I'd rethink my purchase and maybe even go look take another look at a few other cars. But unfortunately, I'm hooked -- and waiting.......

Are you flying or driving down to South Carolina to pick up your ride?

Email from my CA after I asked for a loaner for the delay. (my car has been on US soil since 10/2 if not earlier)

"I checked with my managers and unfortunately are unable to provide a
loaner car to you. We have about 35-40 cars being held at the port in
Newark and not enough service loaner cars to provide to those customers
as well as service customers. Hopefully the EPA will allow release of
these cars shortly. I'll keep you posted."

What do you think, should I keep pressing?

Just my two cents (as I have a 335i on order as well and hope not to get stuck in this same gruelling situation myself), your best bet is on getting the dealership to provide you with a rental, especially for those who are carless since they expected a car by a delivery date promised by the dealership.

The argument by the dealer makes sense because they really can't be expected to have 35 extra loaners on hand. Every customer awaiting a 335i should be entitled to the same benefits. As for who foots the bill for the rental (dealer vs. BMWNA)...now that's for them to figure out.

It's now CARB (according to other posts somewhere around here, but don't ask me where!)

oh no am picking up the beast at the dealer here in NJ. but i dont think that my car is in South Caolina, because the vessel came to NY and then i think i remeber my dealer telling me that they were just going to take it somewhere in Jersey City. Why wouuld they take the car all the way to South Carolina and then bring it back?

Well you said the above. That would be the only reason it is in South Carolina. So you car is not at the Performance Center. You may want to check with your dealer again.
