H&R sport spring on OEM shocks non w/ no performance shocks
I have read that it isn't advisable to use H&R springs on non performance OEM shocks. Is it really that bad? Cause I really want to lower my car, however, I can't afford coilovers at the moment... So I was planning to just get H&R sport springs first. But then again, I wouldn't want to destroy my shocks, cause I am just leasing the car... Any thoughts on this?

BNR32, that is completely false.
The springs will ruin the stock shocks. You'll need to get aftermarket shocks to go with your springs.

it is not recommended since the stock non-zsp shocks are not ment to be used for lowering. of course it will fit, but the ride will be harsh and you will gain little in terms of stablity/control.
Many however, use the ZSP shocks and H&R sport as a setup. just remember, your warrenty will be void (supension parts) if you swap the springs with aftermarket.

I'll say that ultimately chowbow is correct...this is a life fact, and it certainly applies to this situation...
however, if you arent looking for the performance aspect, and are merely looking to drop your car and thats it, and are alright with living with most likely notably worse suspension performance in exchange for that....then, rock on, itll look great...just know that its not going to feel better, and yes, at some pt your shocks will get run down, but when that occurs depends on how you drive |
