LCI E90 trunk key lock deleted?
My 2008 335i coupe had a key lock for the trunk next to the trunk release lever near the licence plate. I noticed yesterday that my 2010 E90 328i does not have this. Is there a reason why BMW deleted this?

Ok serious? WTF is wrong with BMW? They made many changes to the LCI E90 by WAY too much. Stereo got cheaper for 2010, no ash tray cover, interior C-piller trim is now a HARD plastic unlike before it had a nice cloth covering for more sound insulation, sun visors become plastic instead of the same material as the head liner, they deleted the exterior trunk key hole. Even the Leather got cheaper from the E46 to the E90. The E90 leather feels way to hard and cheap.

I have a LCI (built October 2008 - first month of LCI) and I have the lock. And I really needed it when I have disconnected the battery for some reason I'm not sure how you can access the trunk with the battery disconnected if you don't have that lock.

Well, you could hook up the battery again. You could, that is, if it weren't in the trunk.

Also I'm not sure you can open the trunk with the key lock. I think it's only for securing against the valet key and remote trunk release? Except for the manual release I would expect it to be fully electric. Perhaps now there is a separate switch to secure it in the glove box, etc. Last edited by ninesixtwo; 01-20-2011 at 05:00 PM.. |
