New to Me 335D

Hello everyone,

I'm the proud owner of a new (to me) 335D! I used this forum to help make that purchase and I'm happy to join the community.

The car has 69K miles, black SensaTec interior, cold weather package, and iDrive. It's also under Carmax warranty from the previous owner, up to 100k. The only option I really wanted, but was unable to find, was the sport seats. I test drove quite a few others (diesel and gas/petrol) and the leg bolsters are a really nice feature. However, I prefer the SensaTec to leather since it's a DD and I have a four year old boy, but from what research I did, I don't think they make a sport seat in Sensatec material. Anyone know?

Anyway, I love the car and thanks for having me,

Mark

My well loved black 1997 Mercedes C230 that had 254k and never a major issue.

Thank you! We already owned a 2014 Passat TDI, so this isn't the first, but we've only owned the Passat for a year.

Yes, I tried searching Euro posts and it doesn't appear it is an option, even there.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome!

Welcome to the d club Mark, from another Mark. I've had mine for 6 months now and don't regret the purchase what so ever. This forum is great especially if you are out of warrantee and have to do your own maintenance.
When I was shopping for my d, I wanted sport package and most were listed as having leather seats. All I drove and the one I bought actually have nice European "pleather". It's not bad and will probably wear better than leather but it would be nice to have the real cow skin. Here in Houston, it seems like we have about 8 sweating months and the seats get a bit sticky. Maybe the Alpina D3 has cooled seats Do any of you have real leather in your d's? The sport seats are AWESOME though I have to say.

I always assumed mine had real leather: Black Dakota Leather.

The surface gets chafed upon entry on the stitched edge unless I take extraordinary care getting in.

You're not getting 250k of issue free driving off this thing.

Talk to the banished one and JR to remove the alphabet soup and you should be good.

Edit. Since you're new here you're not up to date on the history and drama of this group. Google. BOHL Diesel.

Welcome!!! Just picked up mine two weeks ago with super low kms, based on recommendations from this forum did oil, brake and DEF flushes (stealership no more!). Planning to block off EGR cooler to remedy any future CBU problems. You might want to look into it as well, try go get it cleaned under extended warranty.

Thanks Mark, I definitely prefer the Sensatec or pleather. Even with over 250k on the odometer my 1997 C230 tec seats were still in pretty good shape.

Gary, I’m completely jealous! Did you purchase here in the states?

Thank you for the heads up. I’ll do some reading. That’s a bummer to hear since I like to drive my cars to higher mileage, but it’s under warranty to 100k, so I’ll re-evaluate then. Unless I find an M3 sedan or M5 for a good price that I can’t live without and I sell the D.

Thanks Ruso. I’ll do more reading and look into getting it cleaned.

Yes, I bought it from the original owner who selected it from the factory this way. I love it. No wear signs! Does lack that unmistable BMW leather smell that I love so much though.
