Re your latest steed well versed re these as we are seeing then now, they are lovely fir a car of this size to drive, though big they are very comfortable roomy and as you've stated with the auto are fairly lively.

We've had a 320d M Sport Tourer Auto as a company vehicle now for 2 years now and fir me it's the gesrbox in that car thst really makes it whst it is deceptively quick, makes the E9x auto set up look and feel a tad antiquated.

So we are looking forward to mid January next year when we get its replacement another tourer this time a 335d

The idea behind getting the F series cars was to learn about them as they are different as you'll discover in many ways from the E9x series plus in the near future things mapping wise will happen with the F series that we will,be a part of which is all I'm going to say for now
Agreed. Stever, if you remember I started a thread on F10 and was suggested to have auto gearbox. Then discussing it further on F10 and discussing with Ian AKA xenon, Craig, and highlandpete I decided to go for sport automatic transmission.

Look forward to see F30 335d.

Community of 5 series is very oem friendly. So you will hardly find modded F10. Also, it has subtle design so hard to modify.

Cheers mate. I guess it is winter time so putting 20 wheels will be....

So, it may take sometime before I reach there

No doubt!
But suspension modification is on the list

Thanks mate.
I have looked at those but they are very oemish.

So I was considering these two

M359

or
OEMS Stance SC7

This time I was thinking to stick with silver colour.

But open to suggestions.

Looks very nice mate, I LOVE the look of that white one above!!

Regarding the estate being bigger, did you check the measurements of both?
Usually there is barely a couple of inches between saloons and estates as they share the same chassis. Its an optical illusion that they look bigger mostly

Congrats Sam. Lovely car.

My dad has a new F10 with a lot of extras (ordered new). It is a joy to sit in, feel quite special.

Waiting for your mods to get started....

Do you have individual tyre temp and pressure?

I did not look into dimensions. E91 looks better than F11, so did not want to go for F11.
F10 is a different thing....

Re: wheels, I guess Stance SC7 are looking better as car is slammed. I Am not going to slam and going to use eibach for better suspension.

Also, they look like Merc wheels.
Whereas if I go for M359, they are on many cars these day.
Don't like M5, M6 wheels.

I like Morr wheels but they are very expensive....
So perhaps back to M359 to keep it more sort of bmw look.

Thanks Mo.
I think mrs liked the car more than me. She said 'finally you bought a nice car'. She was never happy with 3 series and she always thought that interior of 3 was outdated. I always told her that its bmw classic interior.

I do not have tyre temp and pressure? Any benefit of that?

Thanks for the link.
I think I will not change the side fenders. So front / back bumper and side skirts.
I think I will have slightly better exhaust than his.
I am just trying to make the car bit more aggressive as with standard 17-18 inches, F10 looks boring.

If you're a bit of a geek (like me) you can view on iDrive the tyre temps and tyre pressures for each tyre (in the tpms screen). My dad has it in his F10, so was thinking knowing you, you could easily retrofit it into your F10 (its an optional extra from factory)

The benefit would be if you had a puncture you'd know what tyre is gone. Also you could monitor your tyre pressures anytime with ease.

I like the idea of that. Would save the regular monthly trip to the petrol station to make sure they're all at the right pressures.

Sounds like the mods are going to be good Mak. Eagerly awaiting any photo updates

You don't get the temperature shown unless you code it, but it's easy enough:

I bet you loved that heated steering wheel this morning! I cant understand why something like that isn't more common on cars! I had a crappy 1ltr Corsa courtesy car when mine was in the bodyshop last year and that had heated seats and steering wheel!

Yep xenon, thats the screen. You can add tyre temps and psi from the factory.

I'm sure if mak wants it he can get it sorted.

Mak if you do, please please try and find a way to retrofit that into an E90! Might need CIC/NBT...?

Thanks. Perhaps I can add that into my future mods. I truly do not see the value of it.
Also, all the parts for F1x are so expensive as there is hardly mod friendly community out there. So, most of the parts are brand new.
Having said that bimmer retrofit offers this kit as a retrofit on F10/F30 with CIC or NBT.
For E-series you will have to go for NBT first and then get the kit fitted.

Been unwell lately (men's flu).
My body shop guy is very busy (doing all X6, landrovers and expensive cars). So, awaiting for him to give me a shout so we can get M5 body kit fitted.

Also, being winter does not help to take photos. Will have to put the winter tyres and perhaps 20 inch wheels when spring comes.

Heated seats and heated steering wheels are defo useful and I am using them on daily basis.

A quick comparison of E9x Vs F1X

- F1x is BIG. No surprise as it is based on 7 series chassis AFAIK.

- Very comfortable and quiet. You can whisper in it.

- Seats are big / wide compared to E9x. They do not provide you the support from the sides but then car is designed for something else.

- There is no key socket. You simply unlock the car. Key can be in your pocket and it will start. Bmw has given a space b/w the cup holders to hold the key. Since key does not go into the socket, therefore battery is non-rechargeable and runs out quickly.

- Navigation has bigger and wider screen than E9x. Same resolution though. It has auto-night detection mode. So night time, it automatically shifts the map to night mode. Something which bmw did not add to E9x. Though NBT retrofit enabled that feature on NBT.

- Speedometer has led in it which gives you mpg. You also get navigation instructions. But if you keep you seat at lowest height and steering wheel at highest setting, you cannot see those instructions. So you either sit high or keep the steering wheel down. Some people install F30 sports steering wheel into F10 but prices are silly. £500-700 with airbag.

- Sport Auto gear box is must! It makes this car bit of fun tbh. Without this, car will be boring. I have been told that bmw has stopped giving this option in lci cars. No idea why but having sports auto gearbox is best thing one can have. And it will be rare for F1x soon.

- Car is responsive till legal speeds. After that, you should put the car in Sport mode with sport transmission turned on to have fun. I have not seen my car going into S8 gear as of yet. Not sure at which speed will it go into S8 gear.

- Car has 70 liter tank. Last time when it showed me zero miles remaining, it took 65 liters. It is showing 575-600 miles remaining. Since I cross dartford bridge / tunnel everyday, therefore I can get more mpg out of it if I had just motorway journeys without start / stop (heavy traffic) journeys.

- People are getting 650-700 miles out of 520d if driven sensibly.

- It has front fuse box and rear fuse box. All those fuses which get power supply with ignition on are at the back. Having said that, fitting permanent dashcam will be pain in the bum.

So far, I am very happy with the car.
Will see how it progresses.
