Bosch or BMW OEM spark plugs/coil packs
So I recently had a misfire cylinder 3 so did the coil swap and it jumped to cylinder 2. Now I am going to replace the coil pack and saw ECStuning they have the whole setup (6 coils, 6 spark plugs) for about 325 using Bosch components. But they also have a BMW OEM one and that one runs for about 395. So trying to get some input whether I should get the Bosch or stick to BMW OEM and if there are any better deals out there. I am running COBB Stg1 AGG. on 93oct shell gas. Also if you are wondering why get the whole kit and not just replace the coil pack I wanna be prepared just in case another coil or the spark plug need changing since I will be already working on one.
On a side note I well be ordering the BMW specific too for the spark plugs from ECStuning also , so anybody who has gotten the tool from there please provide some feedback if it actually works. I contacted ECS and they told me they had fixed they problem with the tool from a few years ago when they first put it out. |

If you have one coil issue then its time to do them all in my opinion. I did same thing as you just replacing one coil and about month ago I went through another coil so its time to do rest of them. Id say do them all or keep good coil with tools in car incase you gotta replace one on side of road when on long trip. Its up to you on brands. I use bosch coils and ngk plugs.

I had a coil issue on my 2006 330i about 3 years ago (purchased car in 2005, so 5 years into owning). They recommended replacing all coils on the rationale that once one goes, the rest will soon follow. 3 years later I finally had my 2nd coil issue. I replaced both with a Bosch part and so far so good.

Thanks for the input guys , yeah think I'm going with the Bosch save almost a hundred bucks . Also did you guys use the dielectric grease on the spark plugs, I know the oem ones your not suppose to so wondering about the Bosch (same product number and BMW spark plugs).

Sad that a car such as the vaulted 3-Series is built with such poor quality components that the recommended spark plug change interval includes the coils. LOL.

I agree, I hear about so many problems with this car but yet its such a joy to drive especially with a tune. I consider myself lucky since this is the only real issue I had(knock on wood)....well 2nd the other was a certain family members fault , he didn't drive the car as much as he should have while I was on deployment. Few weeks after coming home battery took a crap on me. Can't wait to get the damn plugs and coils already ,hate having to drive like I'm driving Mrs. Daisy around to avoid a misfire. I miss the WOT already and its only been 4 days.
