If you really don't have a battery charger you can still just hook up a running car to the ground and positive lead in your engine bay as if you were trying to boost the battery!

Tbh I just did it! It was so quick it didnt matter I'm not sure how on earth it would ever kill the car unless your battery was already shot xP if you've ever sat in your car while your girl went inside a store and just sat with the musicon, t's way shorter than that and you've never killed your car doing that. So I wouldnt worry unless your cable and equipment are so old it takes over 15 plus mins.

O yeah MHD flashes have gotten ridiculously fast with time, it's crazy. I remember the first time I did a full ECU flash for mine, it took a good 30 - 40 minutes.

Now I get to flash and change maps in a few seconds, it's crazy.

Hello and Happy 2020! While I'm glad to be joining E90 ownership, and mostly been lurking on this site, I'm not so glad about my car not starting and stuck at a high school parking lot, anyone know a good towing company? I would need to get it from St. Joseph high (Barrhaven) to Performance Boutique in Carp, cheers!

I haven't been stranded yet. I feel like if I'm not stranded and don't use it I waste the 15$ per month. Tough decision lol, I'm kinda cheap lol.

But at the same time when my water pump goes out if I have CAA I'll be fine.

Think I'm gonna buy it lol. It's only about 160$ per year and since my car is used.

I have already used CAA to take me from Smith's falls to Carp at PB. Was super easy and straightforward. My clutch went out and had it replaced by them.

Good used batteries are only about $40 from Kenny-U-Pull. Get one, charge it up fully (ANYBODY owning a BMW should have a good battery charger or maintainer) and keep it on floor in back seat. That plus a set of jumper cables and you'll never be stranded.

Hey ottawa Friends

Saw a few of you posting about CAA....

Wanted to share i got the canadian tire mastercard and it comes with free canadian tire towing service up to 5 uses a year! Basically the same as CAA!

Very happy with it!

I have an e92 08 335i with some nice upgrade and a e91 328x drive wagon on coil overs!

Hope everyone is safe in this Covid era!

Cheers

Soon to be an E91 owner.
Just want to clarify Cdn Tire Triangle Mastercard towing:
A. up to 5 free service calls per year [NOT towing]
B. unlimited towing to a Cdn Tire Service facility
C. One [1] free towing to garage of your choice

I don't want my BMW towed to Cdn Tire

CAA towing

I highly recommend the premium annual service. This past year I used all 5 service calls and had to call one more time. $90 USD. If you travel at all it will pay for itself. Always ask for the automobile club rate. I also save about 33% swithching my car insurance over to CAA. I can't comment on their claims performance, but the cost differential was significant (I had been with the previous company 38 years).

Hope to see some of you in Ottawa. Are any meets planned?

Peter

I know that the BMW Car Club Ottawa put on events throughout the year, not sure if there's one coming up. There are other FB groups as well, the pandemic has made some of the groups a bit stagnant.

BMW Car Club Ottawa is a group on FB. That's where they talk now. They just planned a winter drive-not sure if it actually took place b/c it was 5 Feb and it was still pretty damn cold.
Lots of ads from commercial enterprises but I think they pay for the priviledge. [sp]

I guess you have to join the club to get on the mailing list. Club has been going to Top Karting 2 or 3 times every winter. Next event 28 March. Limited to 12 people.
I organized many events for the Club over the years. Non members were allowed to join in our events in hopes they would join the club. Some did but many did not. I lot of work goes into organizing the events and it's all volunteer so if you want to participate, join the club.
