2DD0 Valvetronic shadow code
My car logged this shadow code recently that I found with MHD:
2DD0 - Valvetronic system: Control deviation warning threshold exceeded 2 months ago my engine was re-assembled due to a head gasket leak (loose head bolt) so might be related. I happened top discover this code when my car couldn't start, and cleared it. The no-start issue was due to a failed starter motor though so I can't test to see if those code returns until that's fixed... Anyone had this? What was the issue? Tried googling this, haven't had much luck. Feel free to share links if you've found something that might help. Car was driving fine, didn't notice anything wrong. |

Think a few others have encountered this, including me. I get it semi-regularly as a shadow code, but other folks and my tuner (Wedge/Ken) have said it’s kind of a non-issue. What another forum member said, if memory serves, is that it pops up if you don’t give the fuel pump a couple seconds to prime when you get in your car and start it. I put my key in and immediately start it, so that potentially lines up. Others will have to jump in here to better explain...

Hmm interesting. How would you manage to start it before the fuel pump is primed... I guess if you unlock and open the door, and then take a while to start it (the fuel pump wouldn't stay primed forever I guess)?
Maybe that happened when I took my car to the body shop (I took it back as some paint wasn't fully polished from an earlier repair). Or from my starting attempts when my starter was dying. I've got the car back with the new starter motor, drove it to work and now back home, code hasn't come back. I'll keep an eye on it - I check codes occasionally with MHD. |

Yeah it's a harmless code, seems to be triggered by hitting the starter twice within a short period, something you're likely to do when trying to start a car with a dead stater motor.
Or if you start your car quickly after shutting it off. Nothing to worry about. |

So basically it triggers the shadow code if you insert the key in and press START again to accessory (DME flash ready) mode within short period of time... interesting.
I know from CARLY, you can code to start the car without pressing the brake (I have AT). I don't think I'd wanna do that lol
