Had the car since July and been to two dealers more than 6 times and they could not fix the clunking noise & squeaks.
Need your expert feed back is this normal on a vert? The strange thing is only happended at evening when temp is cold and it's driving me insane.

I don't really hear anything out of the ordinary. I have an '09, and when I hit bumps or rough road, I get a little noise. It drives me crazy, but it is a convertible it is normal, and expected. I know most people won't like that answer, but when you don't have a solid top, you will here some noise when there is body roll.

Just something that you have to deal with a convertible. We have a 325ci convertible and it does it squeaks while going over bumps.

You guys get that clattering banging sound coming from the back over rough pavement?
I thought one of my shocks was out of whack- I guess it is the convertible trunk partition |

I've talked to a few E93 owner and they never had this problem on the vehicle. I took it in for a clunking noise on driver side turn out to be a latch problem, they did a minor tweak on the roof and this problem pops up and never going away. The weird thing is squeaky & clunking noise came in at night but not during the day.
I had this problem when the car is not even at 1K miles.

I remember you posted few months back. Dude, you need to involve BMWNA. My e93 with 60K + miles made some rattling noise in hot weather. Its in extended warranty so I had to pay around $400, but it was fixed. No noise after that. There is something wrong here. Don't believe in anyone who says e93 making noise is normal. Your car is brand new, it Must not make any noise. Go after BMW. |

Yeah this clunking sound coming from the back driver side quarter panel area is pretty damn bad.
They insist it's normal but I swear it isn't... |

I forwarded the YouTube video to BMWNA and perhaps they can listen to locate the root cause.

The noises I get (just like yours) come from the driver side rear "C pilar" if you will. At least that's where it sounds like it's coming from on mine. Next time I go into service I'm going to mention it. I know it's not the trunk partition on my car, it is in the cabin for sure. I think it may be something behind the black cloth headliner. At least in my case...

I will contact BMWNA tomorrow and see what is the next step to take? They told me BMW will stand behind their product but in this case they just turn away from the problem and not solving it.
Current mileage on my car is only 4580 miles since July 12 and been to the shop more than six times, what is my other option?

I'm trying to listen to mine more carefully, and see if I can diagnose exactly where it's coming from. I too notice it's been worse now that the weather is getting colder!

Kevin:
Your noise isn't normal and can be corrected. BMW is not stepping up to the plate on this one for some reason. I have 54K miles on mine and never had that sound. This isn't my first BMW convertible it is about my 6th. The only time I have heard this sound and it has been in two different BMWs was the hardware around the latch. You have the right to have this convertible not be a PITA but a joy to drive. I would pursue the lemon law and see if BMW steps up and if not get one that is not causing this issue. I really enjoy my car, it is quiet it is fast has great fuel mileage. What you have when cold is not representative of the product they produce. Best of luck...Brad |

It is difficuilt to capture while driving...Sometimes it sounds like it's in the door panel, or fold down seat, or in the trunk. I have not been to the dealer yet, but it would be helpful if someone out there actually had this noise repaired already. The "dealer experience" would go more smoothly if I actually had something for him to listen to.......
