09 e90 335i N54 with 111k miles. Almost FBO without FMIC. There is always a rattling sound coming from the engine but I love the car, still going strong!

2007 335xi with 112k. Hope to keep it going well into the 200's, possibly even 3. Unless you get 200k out of a car, you aren't getting your money's worth. Have got a coolant leak now, so water pump/t-stat are most likely getting changed this week. A tiny bit of rattle too, have to try and tighten the actuator but want to get this coolant leak sorted out first.

Hi. I amtrying to buy an 08 335i from my friend. It has 140k but I’m totally in love with the car please tell me it’s worth to buy it I really really wanted. I’m not really spending money to get it since we’re trading and I do make enough money to spare on maintenance.

If you are trading with him, what is he getting out of it?

Also, has the OFHG, VCG, plugs, coils, injectors, turbos, water pump, or HPFP been replaced? Some of this may have been done under warranty. The more done, the better. I guess it all comes down to how bad you want the car and if the maintenance has been completed properly. Also, does he change the oil consistently 5k-7k miles?

Just things to think about before going into the deal because you "love the car" sometimes your head is better than your heart on a car purchase...however, sometimes the heart holds the wallet!

Thank you for your response. So he’s trading me for my 2012 Mazda 6 with 60k miles on it. He buys and sells cars so the car wasn’t originally his. the car feels amazing I’m going to drive it for 2 days and take it to a foreign expert mechanic that I know to get it checked out. All he has is proof of is that all of its oil changes have been done on time.

Just take your time with this purchase/trade. An Indy that specializes in foreign cars, specifically BMWs, should be able to tell you what is needed soon. The gaskets are relatively cheap and if you are up for it, easy to do DIY. Just check the stickies for those DIYs. You may be able to go to your local BMW dealership and ask a SA about the warranty work. If they are nice, you may be provided the details of service/warranties that have been performed on that car. Would be nice to know if the turbos, HPFP, injectors, etc. have been done.

The engine was missing at 181K before water pump failure due to ignition coils/plugs, else it would have been fine guessing 220K as factory turbos replaced at 45K. Running great now. This is slowly being converted to my weekend race car as I have a 2017 frozen black M3 daily driver.

TO DO: tranny/differential fluid never changed, walnut blasting never done, charge pipe, PVC valve, Dinan racing coil over track suspension system, M3 suspension refresh with sway bars, rear chassis brace upgrade, JB4 computer, LSD, Dinan intake, Porsche Brembo front brakes, TBD upgraded rear brakes (love suggestions here, F30?), considering wheels VMR710 19x9.5 ET33 front with 235/35/19 front and 19x10 ET25 rear with 275/30/19, also considering installation of M3 left/right rear side panels and bumper (my body guy can get it done). Comments? Concerns?

I am driving this until I total it or 500K/miles whichever comes first. I plan on spending money, lots of it, to keep it running, it's a great platform.
This is the type of enthusiast that we all ought to be. I plan to keep my n54 for as long as possible, too!

Not the highest mileage by far, but I just picked up my 2007 335i with 130k, car is tight as a drum and put down 260whp and 260wtq on a mustang dyno 100% stock, not bad at all!

Just to see the service history! I'd never buy it. I have my dealers license and I could never resell a car with that many miles. Especially a twin turbo bmw lol

You expect that this car was serviced at the dealer all the way up to 270k so it will show on the history? Chances are very slim for something like that. There is lid for every pot so if you buy it you can sell it but probably won't make profit. If this was RWD I would have bought it sight un seen because is clean so possibly was all easy hwy miles. But I dislike the xDrive. Where in Wisconsin are you? Hook me up with cheap n54 car from the auction there on I94.

I would never expect it to be serviced until its current mileage, that'd be special. But obviously the longer that car has reported service history the more appealing it will be to anyone looking to buy. Clearly it has been taken care of based on its condition and the fact that it has 266k. But I don't buy cars to break even. so I wouldn't even consider it. Quick flips result from cars near 100k and a clear carfax. No accidents, few owners, and service records..

I'm located Hudson wi. I go to the auctions in Minneapolis. N54 are plentiful, but they don't sell for cheap, even at wholesale auctions.

I have 224k on my 2007 n54 335xi. Original everything, even turbos. Still does 0-60 in about 5 sec, very little lag pulls hard Have had the car since 2009 when it had 30k on it! Just wish I had gotten a manual!

This is very encouraging - are your injectors original? What kind of maintenance intervals?

I have an '09 335i with only 88K on it - but my '04 330ci had 215K on it when it was totaled out by an Accord, so I'm in it for the long haul.

They had to have. An N54 won't make it to 260k miles without meticulous maintenance haha
