AR catless downpipes for a 335i N54 & MOT with catless.

Looks like I'm getting new Turbos to replace the knackered ones in the car.

While the turbos are out I'm going to put in some catless DPs. Looks like AR make the best fitting ones for RHD 335is. Where can I get them? Or are there any others I should look at? Miltek?

I'm also interested to hear how people have got on with MOT and catless downpipes, but leaving the secondary cats in place.

Vrsf are quite popular. Garage had no issues fitting mine. I think there are some for sale in the for sale thread.

I've got Wagners decat DP's and again no issues with fitting.

If you leave the secondary cats in place then you will pass an MOT. If you have elected to bin the secondary ones of gone with sports cats etc then you won't pass.

Good. Yeah I'm leaving the rest of the exhaust stock, just the DPs. It's made a massive difference changing out DPs on other turbo cars I've had in the past.

Was your car a lot louder on the catless DPs? I'm guessing catless Wagner, VRSF etc. all yield roughly the same decibel increase and exhaust note?

Yeah the DP's are the more restrictive part of the exhaust.

I was already running the Akra so no secondary CATs or centre section etc and just the smaller Akra backbox but yes with adding the catless DP's there was a noticeable increase even over the AR catted ones I swapped out.

not sure mate, my MOT is at the end of this month although I do no envisage any issues - il take it for a thrash in the first instance and get them to do the emissions test as soon as I get there.

Regarding noise, Ive got the exhaust flaps open, along with the DP's they do sound good, just right for me tbh.

Thanks mate. The guy who'll be doing the turbos and DP said he can run it through an emission test afterward so at least I know in advance.

A warm car with vrsf front down pipes and stock secondary cats will sail through a mot.
Done it 3 times now at 3 different test stations with no issues.

They're a right b$#@€Rd to fit! So you will need to factor in a good garage at ~3 hours labour. Plus gaskets.
