Cool. Thanks for finding the info about firmware version.
I'll see if I can find a local Beema specialist (not a dealership)

So I managed to update mine from Europe Premium 2011i, to Europe West Premium 2024-2.

Problem was that I was using a USB3 stick, and the car only likes USB2.

All good now

No need to update car's Firmware or anything.

2nd Link to Jaeger's thread in Post #1 works fine, just Right-Click and Save As.

Re-updates of the maps

hi all,
I have updated my maps in 2018 circa. I'd like to update them to 2024-1.
Can you pls suggest the procedure I have to follow now, just to load the new maps?

I could not exactly find from where I should start the process, years ago I basically did what is explained in the post #1

thanks in advance

Hi shawnsheridan,

I didn't know how else to send you a message, so apologies this is on another's post...

I'm a new bmw owner of a 2 series 2015 plate over here in England UK. It's a dream I do love it.

However, there is a small issue with an "activation code" that is required for me to access my navigation system.

Actual message that comes up says: "To start navigation, please enter the activation code".

I did contact the dealership and they said they have not got this information and will contact BMW on Monday.

Me being me, I have contacted BMW by email and phoned them but they said they cannot provide me with this information even if I did provide them with the VIN (as stated over this forum).

I have been through the forum and tried to educate myself on downloading and trying to obtain a FSC number but to no avail. In total I tried 4 different sets of those 20 (letter/number) combinations.

I was hoping you may be able to help me with this.

My VIN ends in: VZ30199

MAP Version: NBT/NEXT

MAP region: Europe (I live in the WEST if that helps)

Kind Regards,

Purdy

Thank you Shawn again,
I was able to generate the code Required,
My next issue is being able to copy the 22.75Gb file to Usb Fat32 on my Mac as it says file size is too large for this format. I've tired looking online but nothing is helping with a solution .

You need to extract the map file before copying the extracted data to USB, and extracted it is about 31 GB, so you will need a 64 GB USB 2.0 Drive, Fat32 Formatted (MS-DOS Format on Mac). And for Mac, you also need to remove hidden Mac files from USB Drive with tool like Blue Harvest.

Hi all,
Maybe you can help me a bit. I tried to pull the 1b file from my E92 CIC Premium maps using the USB method but it doesn't work, tried with multiple USB sticks. Any other options to get it out?
VIN is E259764. Thank you very much in advance
Also, if you can share the latest Lookup.xml file that would be great. The 2024-02 Europe East Premium maps are not included in the one I have

Do you use a Fat32 Formatted USB 2.0 (Not 3.0) Drive and Glovebox (Not Center Armrest) USB Port?

Hi Shawn,

Yes. All the USB's formatted FAT32 with the file on them. Tried also with USB 2.0 and 3.0 and with different capacities (512mb, 2gb, 8gb, 32gb). Next step might be trying with an USB sd card reader...

And Glovebox USB Port, not Armrest USB Port?

No idea then. It should work.

Even if you get 1B, car firmware is E89X-10-12-503. I do not think you can make Map Update via USB Drive.
