Check if your coding is right, if you're in Europe use pins 18/28 and use wert_21 otherwise use the coding from the op.

Also check all your connections with a multimeter if possible.

Happy to report that I've sorted out the issue I was having where my back up camera would only work on the first shift into reverse and fail on subsequent shifts.

I had my cic module updated to run the latest firmware CIC.C1A and that did the trick. Updating the cic wiped out the coding on the module so that needed to be redone too. It works flawlessly now.

Update on my situation. I wiped all my coding, got a new emulator and pnp harness and made sure my camera works, recoded, and still nothing comes up on my screen when I go into reverse.

Do you at least hear the parking sensors going off? If you hear them and the screen doesn't change that definitely points to a coding problem.

You mentioned that you wiped the coding, the cic coding changes will obviously need to go back in for you to see the new reverse screen layout.

Plus the $3AG in the VO/FA for CAS and FRM or NFRM if you removed those too.

I took the car to a specialist coder who updated the cic to C1A in about an hour. I wasn't around to see him do it but presumably it was using icom.

So yeah it's important to have the latest firmware for the back up camera to work in a stable fashion, something that wasn't quite mentioned when doing this DIY.

I am also not 100% I've changed the VO codes right. I can see from NCSExpert that $3AG is listed. I'm not 100% that I've done FA_WRITE on each.

The "plug and play" harness doesn't have a connector to power the camera, so I used a pinout posted earlier to get power.
I've not tested that's working, but I'd assume even without power I'd get a black screen or something.

Just a small bump. I'm still stuck with this!

For reference, I think my CIC build date is 12.2009.

Jakg How are you going with this? So $3AG is definitely in your VO?

Not yet unfortunately. Good to now I’m not the only one!

If you don't get a picture, then it can be only one of several things.

1: the camera is duff.
2: the wiring is duff.
3: the pins into the cic wrong.
4: wrong wert selected

If you get the cic going into the park_menu then the emulator is working, so it won't be that.

If you know the camera works then it must be either the wiring or the input into the cic.

Don't use the trigger wire from the emulator, use a switched ignition (to test) that the camera is "on", then use the trigger to enable a relay if you want that part to work like that

Then recheck all the wires, (do a continuity test for each pin to make sure that they are connected), make sure that they are in the correct pins for the wert you have selected.

CIC, works best when running c16 or c1a

If the emulator makes the cic jump into the park menu screen then its working...

It's all it does, it does not control the camera or anything else, it just sends the can bus commands, that particular emulator looks like it also allows navigation too, (how is the camera being triggered with that module??)

Look at the wert value and the pins that the camera is plugged into.

White plug cic quadlock base and in cic coding

RVC_CIC

FBAS 1 = wert_21: (TRVSC)
- FBAS+, PIN 2 : PIN 17
- FBAS-, PIN 12 : PIN 28
- FBAS shield, PIN 11 : PIN 27

FBAS 3 = wert_23: (TV)
- FBAS+, PIN 5 : PIN 21
- FBAS-, PIN 8 : PIN 24
- FBAS shield, PIN 7 : PIN 23

Pick 1 set of FBAS pins and then select the correct wert for that in the RVC_CIC art of the config.

So if you use wert 21 select that and then pin the camera as follows

- FBAS+, PIN 2 : PIN 17
- FBAS-, PIN 12 : PIN 28
- FBAS shield, PIN 11 : PIN 27

The 2 sets of pin numbers are for both types of quadlock, early ones are marked 1-12 and 1-12 on both black and white plugs, on later cic it goes from 17-40

You can even put any video source on any of the pins and then switch to park_menu and you should see a picture.

Emulator passes 12v to the camera, where do you think it's getting power from? When my setup just stopped working emulator was only passing 3v to the camera.
