What is the current map version in your car? (PREMIUM for Professional nav, or MOTION for Business nav?)
Go into the Navigation menu, press the iDrive OPTION button, then scroll down and select "Navigation System Version".

I assume you downloaded the PREMIUM maps for Professional.

Also, make sure the root of the USB drive contains 2 items ('pkgdb' folder, and 'config.nfm' file).
Thanks!
i have road map Europa Premium 2013 on car!

..Yes i insert on root usb 2 items ('pkgdb' folder, and 'config.nfm' file), i have 9nly road map europe premium 2019-2 ( 22gb and config nfm (317kb), maybe i must start with 2019-1.. ( i haven't it) ??!!

Im sorry..i try and try but nothing..hope someone csn hrlp me step by step! Thanks again

CIC is an old navigation system that was phased out ~2013.

2017 cars probably have NBT EVO (Evolution) systems, so you cannot use the CIC script

Hi Guys,

First of all many thanks for this platform. Furthermore i'm a new owner of a F31 2014 320D Sport. So there is a reasonably big chance i might ask a lot of questions.

My question is, I can't get the 1b.hex file. I have put the "copie_scr.sh" file on the root of my FAT32 usb stick and have repeatedly tried with 2 more other usb sticks to get the 1b.hex file till now nothing.

Could /would you be so kind to tell me what i should do? Is it my Macbook pro? should i got to a windows laptop? Please tell me what i have to do.

Again many many thanks!

The script is for CIC systems only.

It will not work for other HUs.

First of all thanks a lot for you reply.

I looked up my version and is a NEXT version. Since the generator is CIC/NBT i assumed i am ok. So what are the options for me to generate a key?

Hello,
I tried to copy the 1b file form my car but it doesn't work.
I have uploaded your 1b.zip file, in this file there are only 2 files:
* copie_scr.sh
* instruction.txt

This is correct?
I have used 32 gb usb, and also 1,83 gb usb. All USB use the format 32FAT.

Can you help me?

Thanks!

Same here 2012 e91, extracted the zip file to three usb sticks now and nothing happens. Put the USB stick back in the PC and the same files are on it? Nothing has changed.

This is only for CIC equipped cars.

NBT cars can use Ethernet and FTP to grab the file, then use the FSC code generator with it.

Prior posts in this thread explain this and where to go for more info.

Thank a lot for the info. Will look into it. Hopefully there will be a some kind of a explanation where exactly to plug it in the car.

Yep, that's correct.

This process only works for cars with CIC systems.
What year is your car, and what version is the current maps installed? (use iDrive to find out)

Still can't get the car to spit out it's 1B hex file. Tried four memory sticks of various sizes, copied the "copie_scr.sh" to them, inserted, waited, waited and nothing. Pop drive back in PC and there's still just the "copied_scr_sh" file and nothing else.

Car is a 2012 e91 UK with Business Nav.

End of my tether with it now and don't know what else to try (other than buying a cable).

Anyone succesfully done this with BUSINESS Nav?

I even tried the date method of the Jagaer FSC generator and tried every date code for the first 6 months of my cars build year (which took ages entering it each time)

Any ideas? Chassis is WBAUT32080F214235

Ended up buying a code from ebay for £9.99, arrived within the hour and the code worked, sadly stupid thing only updates while driving over about 19mph so have spent the last 45 mins driving aimlessly around while it updates!

I am a new user here looking for any help i may be able to get please. I followed the steps, got 1b.hex file from car smoothly, downloaded maps and copied to usb. my e91 recognize the usb and start the upgrade process but does not accept generated code with message 'entered code is incorrect'. I have tried BMW Road Maps Europe West PREMIUM 2019-1 (and 2019-2). Used fsc generator with desired/correct map version (and 1b file). I have tried CIC as well as NBT generated codes with no luck. 1b.hex file is of correct size (319B)

I have currently ECE BMW 1.5.20 Road Map Europe PREMIUM 2009-2. I can provide my 1B file.

I am not sure if i missed any previous comment here which could explain why i do not get correct code? Is my car incompatible (BMW320D, e91, 2010).

Will really appreciate any help. thank.

Does your 1b.hex file contain a generic VIN of "1234567" (characters 27 to 33)?

If so, you'll need to manually extract the 1b.hex file using an ENET to OBD2 Connector, as per my previous comment:
https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...&postcount=390

There is a known problem where the script generates an incorrect 1b.hex file for earlier model E9x cars. More info here:

Thank you very much for this useful info. Yes, indeed when looking at my 1b.hex it does show 1234567. I am going through suggested posts to assess if its all worth buying ENET to OBD2 connector and giving it a go.

thanks so much. much appreciated ....
