ST Coilovers Rear not low

Recently installed my ST V1s on my e92 M sport. Was under the impression that they could go fairly low. Front is pretty much no gap and still some room to go lower, Rear however is all the way down and I think is higher than M sport suspension. Any advice? Should I get different springs?

Is that the factory upper perch still in place? That needs to be removed.

You only use the supplied upper perch with the adjustable collar. Knock out the stock perch with a hammer it pops out.

Should look like this is in the rear, except with the ST parts.

^^^^^^^^^^^this this this

Once you remove the old upper perch, the car will drop at least an inch and a half.

Thanks guys I will bring this up to the shop that installed it over this weekend. From what it looks like is they didn't use the supplied perch? It is a little odd because the coilovers came new, and I don't remember the perches being in the box

Who has the original box? Sounds like this shop doesn't know what they are doing... Which scares me cause anyone whos installed KW coilovers or ST coilovers just once in a BMW knows how the rears go together. It's also in the instructions.

I'd find a new shop going forward.

FYI usually all the way down on ST or KW are too low and tuck rear. Consider about 5 or more threads up from the lowest setting so you have an even rake.

so I just checked the box with the oem susepnsion that was given back to me, and I think the original perches were removed? Or is this something different? I could not find the adjustable ST perches in the box.

Is this a part that can be ordered?

The OEM perch is pictured in your original post, it's the metal collar thing, so they haven't been removed.

I guess you need to contact ST and order the top adjustable collars.

What concerns me now is if that shop left the rubber bushing on the bottom of the spring as that is required also; I'm wondering if you are holding it.

Here is a picture of the kit in it's entirety (+ OEM bits but disregard).

Note the black adjustable collars on the top of the springs. You need those.

Also pictured here:

Correct, there is to be a rubber mount bushing at the bottom of the spring.

Then the spring, then the adjustable collar.

The OEM Collar is to be removed and the upper spring bushing mount won't be used since there is an adjustable collar now.

So cliff notes for OP.

Contact ST, get 2 adjustable perches/collars

Make sure shop installs bottom rubber bushing on the springs

After that you should be all set.

Even with adjustable perches I think it will still be high as it appear that you have different springs with 8 to 9 instead of 7 to 8 coils. This is solely based on me viewing the photos in this thread. You need to verify this with who ever sold you the parts.

So..... I just went under the car to do a more thorough diagnosis.... The upper perches are on the bottom where the oem rubber ones are supposed to be XD. The coils are the same feuer they are 8 coils.

Yeah, pretty much on most coil overs the adjustable perches are on the bottom. On BMW 3-series they go on the top. I can see a non BMW tech making this mistake.
I'm glad you found the issue. Go back and have shop install the kit correctly.

My installer made the exact same mistake with my ST coils on my E92. Did you end up getting the problem fixed?
