Well this may be a silly suggestion too, but did you try resetting adaptations OP?

Did wiring testing for Continuity.
Looked good, but a few wires were multiple contacts. Took car to dealer. Going to post report. They said it is DME. Shit |

A shorted O2 sensor can indeed fry DME components but my guess is that the damaged components are fairly easy to replace. Before having someone replace and code the entire DME, I'd remove the DME from the car and have a competent electronics repair company take a look and replace suspect components. There appears to be a very well regarded one in Vancouver called Excel Electronics with forty 5-star reviews on Google. Probably other good companies in the area as well.

Even cloning a use MSD1 DME is 150 CAD +12% Tax. + 599 for cloning service that is USD.....so like 900 CAD. So I am at just over 1000 wth my own labour. Seriously.......if there is a chance I can get it repaired locally for a soldering job. Will do this for sure.....but gotta find a good local store first. Thanks Guys. |

Mosfets OP! Look up and into replacing the Mosfets, that's what I meant to say in my last post..not resistors. Also just in case:

I replaced a fried $1 SMD driver chip in the JBE and saved $400 + coding for a new one.
The PCB had a conformal coating that added a bit of work to get the old part removed, but it wasn't too bad if you know how to solder and use a very fine soldering iron and a magnifier. |

No Luck with any Local Shop even the one Dealer recommended.
So I found an Awesome guy that got me a MSD81 and coded it to my Car and now my error is gone and holy smokes......car is running Extremely Smooth. My Original DME was MSD80, and now I have a MSD81. Damn what a difference in smoothness in my car. So there you have it. Thanks for all who responded..... |

The MDS80 also went on our 3/07 build 335i. Previously, a year prior had the mosfets replaced. Then a month ago starting getting misfires and O2 errors. My indy gave up on it. Based on the codes it was the DME.
In the end we got a new MDS81 DME installed and coded. The car has never run better. |
