Claybar replacement
I detailed my car and used this nanoskin sponge
Instead of clay bar, it worked well and it's no issue if you drop it. After two cars it's still in mint condition. Have you guys used it? I followed with a mothers polish and nufinish car was, paint is silky smooth. |

I’ve used it but I noticed it causes marring on the paint, so I had to follow up with a machine polish. Otherwise it does what it’s advertised to do. I have BSM paint.

I've been using the Mother's branded one, and I like it. Like you said, no worries if you drop it, just rinse it off and keep going.
Key is to make sure you use a lubricant(soapy water is fine) with it, never dry. Marring, or micro scratching, can still happen when lubricated, but if you keep the surfaces of the sponge and paint well soaked and rinse the sponge often, you'll minimize them. Keep in mind you should never do this, whether it's a traditional clay bar, or these sponges, unless you're also ready to polish and wax/seal right after. It's not something you do with every wash. |

I've used one and found I prefer old fashioned clay, so I switched back. Longer term I noticed my clay block got super sticky after it had been stored for a winter
