How stupid do these wheels look?

Alright... I just bought a set of 19" Avant Garde M359 wheels...

I called Avant Garde and asked what tire size I need for these wheels.

They told me:

Front: 235/35/R19
Rear: 265/30/R19

So I bought a new set of Hankook tires in that size and had them mounted...

Well, take a look at the attached pic after I had them mounted, and tell me what you think.

You can see it looks fine from the side...

But at an angle, see how far the wheel sticks out past the tire? Ridiculous.

I saw here that a lot of other people have these wheels with this same tire size... is this what YOUR wheels/tires look like too???

It looks like I really need to get 245 front, 275 rear.

Anyone running 245 front, 275 rear?

Any fender rub?

This is on a 2011 335is.

Thanks guys.

Certain tires are different. My 265/30s had whats called a lip/edge protection. Meaning the sidewall is thicker than others to prevent curbing.

Remember though, if you go wider tire and its too wide you may have to roll fenders.

You are definitely short on tire width there.

What are the wheel specs? Edit: Just looked up the available sizes on AG's web site and they list 19x9 and 19x10. They do not list the offsets, however.

You'd be better off with the 245 and 275 for the front and rear respectively as long as the offsets are matched well for the e9x.

Also, are you lowered?

I'll let others chime in because I have not run those sizes.

What a bummer OP because you are probably stuck with these tires, unless you are able to sell them after you get the correct tire sizes.

Side view looks great! Coincidentally, I am currently considering the same wheel for my 335is.

What brand tires do you have with that lip protection?

I was thinking about Michelin Pilot Sport 4S:

https://www.discounttiredirect.com/b...rProduct/32731

Or Continental Extreme Contact Sport:

https://www.discounttiredirect.com/b...rProduct/33491

Can't tell if either of these have that lip protection, but the sidewalls do seem to have more of a rounded appearance which is I think what I'm going for.

Just still unsure if I'll get rubbing.

The offsets are +35 front, +38 rear.

The car is not lowered.

Yeah the wheels look nice from the side... But on top of the bad tire fitment, I think I may have received a bad set of wheels too, because the paint on the wheels feels bumpy a lot of places. And I'm seeing lots of small bumps and runs. (Pic attached)

I contacted Avant Garde, so we'll see what they say. Maybe they're just cheap shitty wheels, who knows!

But yeah I guess I'll have to try and sell these other tires!

I'm running Michelin 4s tires. They do not offer lip protection.

I've had my AG 359s for six years and still love them. They've held up well. It appears to me that they gave you tire specs for my wheels:

Front Wheels: 18x8.5 ET35 Continental 235/40 ZR18
Rear Wheels: 18x9.5 ET33 Continental 265/35 ZR18

BTW I ran Conti Contacts for the first year, and hated them. They're hella loud.

235/265 are too narrow for 9 and 10 wides... but if you run the "correct" tire size, you will most likely rub... which is probably why they told you a "stretched" tire size....

I run 235/265 but I am running 8.5 and 9.5 wide wheels and my Hnakook tires fit perfectly.

You can get wider tires, and possibly rub, or get narrower wheels.
Either choice is not ideal and is gonna cost you some cash...

Those Hankooks appear to have the edge lip on them. Are the front and rear tires both fitting like the pic?

Those width dimensions are on the smaller size for the rims (esp the fronts), but should not fit like that.

It almost looks like 18's were stretched on those 19" rims! Not possible though?

haha I would love to see an 18" tire stretched to fit a 19" wheel.

For what its worth, I am running a 265 on a 20x10 wheel now. It may be stretched but visibly does not appear to be. The Michelin 4s may run a little wider, assumingely.

I could have gone with a 275 tire but was afraid of rubbing because I am slightly lowered.

Side bar: highly regret going with a 20" wheel set up for this car. Now looking at returning to 19" wheels.

I too am running a 265 on a 19x10 wheel and does not look like this picture. I am also running Michelin Pilot 4S.

what I can say is that previously I was on a 275 hankook v12 and had no rubbing... when i went to the 265 Michelin I had to roll the fender because of the meatier sidewall the 4S has as compared to the V12s.

Did you check the tires to make sure the size they told you is what they mounted on the wheels? Those tires look more stretched than what they should be.

I'd also get a tape measure and measure width of the wheel. In your pick I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 10" wheel with a 235/35/19 on it. It just looks realllllly stretched.

If the tires are 235/35/R19 and 265/30/R19 they would fit your OEM 313's perfectly since they are 8" and 9" wheels. Then you could sell your AG M359's as an option.

I experienced the same thing. Went from Hankook V12's to Michelin PS4's. The PS4's have a higher shoulder and appear to run a bit wider than the V12's. The PS4's also have rim protection whereas the V12's did not.

Yep, those are the tire sizes that were put on the wheels.

I'm seriously considering selling these wheels right now and buying stock 313's.

I bought the tires from discount tires direct. And they're actually accepting a return for a full refund, even though the tires have been mounted, which is awesome.

Looks like a lot of people buying Michelin PS4s, I actually just did the same 2 days ago in hopes of getting better coverage...

I got the same size, 265 in the front, hoping it'll look less stretched due to the fatter wheel (my wheel shop recommended I don't go up a size with michelins or I'll get rubbing...

But got 275's in the rear.

Tires are coming in today...

So now I'm debating:

1) Risk mounting the tires on these wheels to try this setup.

2) Just sell these wheels and get stock 313's and be done with it.
