As you can see from the pics (attached) my rotors and calipers look terrible and rusted.

And these 19" 313 wheels leave them very exposed... so I think it's time for an upgrade!

What would you do, just get a new set of stock rotors & brake calipers?

Looks like BMW makes stock drilled rotors:
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...nn-34116855000

Or I could go for some aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors? (If so, what brand?)

Maybe get the calipers painted a certain color? Paint them silver?

Buy new calipers?

I'm looking to do something tasteful, and "clean-looking" but still give it a nicer look to do some justice to the wheels...

(These wheels in the picture got stolen and I just bought brand new silver 19" BMW 313 wheels)

I'd get the calipers media blasted & power coated, or apply a high heat primer & scuff it up a little with 800 grit & put on G2 epoxy paint. I'd also add two coats of high heat clear coat too for added protection.

You have a white car, so lots of colors will match. Red, blue or yellow ?

I'd get the Zimmerman sport rotors (cross drilled) use a Epoxy type paint on the rotor hub but paint it with a high temp primer first and then scuff it up with 800 grit sand paper before applying the epoxy. G2 black.

Slightly off topic but what happened with the Avante Garde M359 wheels you had on last week?

I know you weren't happy with the finish and had an issue with tire sizes - just curious what you ended up doing.

I think if you paint the calipers, that will detract from whatever else you are seeing. Its normal for the rotors to appear rusty after a rainfall but disappears upon applying the brakes.

Super helpful, thanks!

I'm assuming painting the rotor hub is just to prevent rust?

(My car is actually silver, I should have mentioned, I see the lighting in the pics make it look lighter.)

For the calipers, I wonder if there are places that can do that... or if it's easier to buy a pre-painted aftermarket caliper somewhere (or if those even exist outside of big brake kits).

Yeah I'm going to look at a bunch of silver BMW's like mine and see what color looks good for the calipers...

I'm thinking maybe silver, black, or dark blue?

Those Avant Garde M359 wheels - I'm shipping them back. They're just too wide to fit the tire that needs to be on there. Plus the quality of those wheels was just sad.

It's a shame, I mean if they made that wheel in a size that fits my car + didn't go cheap on the quality, then I'd run with those for sure.

Z4 35iS front rotors; Aluminum hat to save rotational weight. plus wont corrode

IMO drilled and slotted rotors are useless unless its a track car where you change it often (We even use blank rotors on the race cars).

For the calipers I always take them off to paint; Full wire brush or blast and you can use caliper paint or powdercoat.

You won't find pre-painted e90 calipers for a 335, which are stock.

For powder coating, you'd have to strip off all the hardware & gaskets etc. You'd need buy a new gasket set.

To sandblast & powder coat the 4 calipers, 4 clips, & 4 caliper hangers might run you $300 to $400.00. Then you'd have to spend another $100.00 or so on gasket sets for all 4 calipers. So, probably $500.00.

If you know someone who can media blast them, and then you prime & paint them, that's the cheapest way to go. I'm not a big fan of just wire brushing them. If you've ever seen calipers after they have been media blasted vs ones that have been wire brushed, you'd know why.

I'd look to find a wrecked F30 with the special M calipers on it, at a junk yard. You could refurbish them for relatively cheap. Only thing is, you'd need different rotors & pads.

Silver car - red, blue or yellow in that order IMO.

I did cross-drilled and slotted rotors all around. This is them with my 313's.

Not the best picture, but you get the idea.

That is a shame because they looked great!

When you had them mounted, did the wheels stick out of the fenders? I imagine the fitment they offer would be ideal for the non-m e9x models.

I just think that between your tire sizing issue and the quality of the finish, you were majorly turned off and I can't blame you for that.

Knowing what you went through and wanting those wheels myself, I'd try to source the original style 359 wheels from an M3.

As for the calipers, I think the blue color found on the F30 performance calipers would look great against your silver paint.

I'm saying what's happening to your car is normal and you don't need new parts to fix anything.

Paint them sure, but there's nothing wrong with it.

They won't rust if you use a quality primer.

you can get zinc coated rotors. But since you're in south fla, you're still screwed.
