Stored fault codes

A friend is having an issue with a bmw 1 series that he recently purchased, it’s throwing a few fault codes but he suspects they may have been there when the car was sold to him but deleted just before.

Is there any way to see all the deleted fault codes? (Ie are they stored). And are these codes dated or have any mileage record on them?

(I’m assuming they must have for bmw warranty claims)

What software are you using to scan the car?

I assume it has warranty
Take back to place of purchase and ask them to sort.

Privately you are responsible for ensuring the car is “of satisfactory quality’’ and “fit for purpose” before you buy it.

As that's the case I would post the codes and I'm sure the users in this forum will be able to help.
