bluetooth music on a 2011 328
I have a new to me 2011 328i e93 with the multimedia system and the premium audio system. I checked the BMW website and I am current with software updates.
Yesterday I was able to play Pandora from my android smartphone WITH BLUETOOTH as well as make phone calls and see texts, etc. Today I cannot get the bluetooth to play pandora. I can make phone calls but the bluetooth won't connect for music. I've tried rebooting the phone, turning the car off, turning the bluetooth off, etc. Tried without the USB cable connected. Nothing works. I can plug the phone into the aux jack and I do get music into the car. What's going on here? Thank you |

Only thing different...wife paired her phone just before the problem. I un-paired her phone, un-paired my phone, rebooted my phone, shut off the car, etc. Still no joy. Is there a reboot for the idrive?
Also, separate question...what do you call the mount on the passenger side inside the center console? I think it's for an ipod. Can I use it for other devices? Can I remove it easily to make more room in there? Thank you |

See if this helps. Sorry, I don't have iDrive in my car.

I fixed it!!
I didn't go far enough into the reboot process. Deleting the connection setup on the idrive and the phone and then re-pairing from scratch did the job. But why does it take several minutes before pandora starts to play into the system? I see it playing on the phone but the idrive takes several minutes before actually playing on the car stereo. Premium Harmon Kardon system. |

You're going to have this issue again.
I use my bluetooth for music and these are the issues I've ran into. I have a Samsung S9 1) Music will sometimes stutter then it'll continue to play with static sound 2) Sometimes I can't use the steering wheel controls to change volume and songs 3) Sound is delayed if you watch videos I tried re-pairing the phone to the car but that didn't do anything. What I noticed that temporary fixes it until next start up is if issue 1) and 2) happens I will just press the media select button twice on the steering wheel and that usually fixes it. If the above "fix" doesn't work is I mapped one of the preset buttons to the bluetooth and I would just turn it on and off. My iDrive is up to date as well, I don't think there's a fix for this if there is let me know. |

Been in and out of the car many times the last 2 days. No problems. The slow uptick for starting Pandora seems to be solved by being on another selection in the multimedia menu. Also, skipping a tune works by double clicking on the idrive dial.
I shut off the car, take my phone with me, Pandora is auto paused. I get back into the car and it automatically starts Pandora again. MotoG Android device. |
