Spray painting with a compressor
I fancy buying an M-Sport front bumper for my E90 and spraying it A22 with a compressor I picked up. I appreciate I may have issues with compressor size but what I would like to know is how much paint to buy, top coat and clear coat etc?
Do I need to thin the paint etc. Any tips would be greatly received |

From your post, you do not sound as if you have used a spray gun before.so,first off, what
is the rating of compressor, single phase three phase, the spray gun you are thinking of using, what size is the material nozzle does it match with the air cap ?.what type of paint were you thinking of using water base, acrylic, high solids or cellulose, were you going to use acrylic thinner or something else, you see this ain't a walk in the park, that is why pro's charge the price's you see around,I spent many years doing what you are thinking of doing and you will notice when you look into it that it is not that simple. |

Try and learn OP but just know if you want good results you need to know the basics from someone with experience which should be a YouTube search away.

Bit of late reply...
Them compressor is a Clarke Warrior 30 https://www.toolite.org.uk/clarke-wa...v-p-56998.html I have a couple of normal spray guns that came with it and also a mini one. I have tested the compressor today and all seems good using various Clarke tools. However I'm not convinced my Outlet Tap is working and I have no idea what the assembly is on the end as I believe its been added. Pic below. I've found dealers on Ebay selling A22 Sparkling Graphite paint but as said I don't know what needs to be added to the paint. I appreciate it is more complicated than I first thought but must be worth a try even I just paint something small at first. |

Ok so that has been added, but it shouldn't affect the Outlet Tap before hand? Do you know if the tap turns constantly in either direction or are they meant to just flip 90 degrees from closed to open?

Just looks like a tap not a on/off valve. Like on your bath I guess, screw it in and it shuts off flow/ screw it out increased flow. The big red knob on the left adjusts your desired pressure, you need a moisture trap to remove condensate from the compressed air.
