Thumbs down Reeves - Tampa FL

I called Reeves yesterday asking how much to change my spark plugs. After waiting 10 minutes on the phone the guy said they were all busy and they'd call me back. They never called me back that day but I just assumed since it was around 4 they closed and I'd get a call this morning.

Nope. No call.

It doesn't matter though I did it myself and fixed the issue so this story has a happy ending. Saved myself hundreds of dollars in labor too and learned a new skill. So maybe this should be a thumbs up instead. Multiple times I've had problems with this dealership. This is just one more to add to the list. If they weren't on my way between work / home I'd not even bother.

All I paid was $50 for spark plugs and a pizza for my friend that helped.

Honestly they suck, I rather drive 45 min out of my way and go to fields in lakeland. I went to reeves when I first bought my car and asked for a print out of whats been serviced and the guy told me he doesnt have access to it. I went to lakeland fields and they gave me everything I needed to know.

+1

I haven't been to Lakeland, so I can't vouch for that, but I can for Bert Smith in St. Pete.

Top-notch service. Awesome price for Walnut Blasting too ($450).

Sounds like when I was last in for service at Reeves and I asked about an extended warranty for when mine runs out. I was told I would get an e-mail or call because the warranty guy wasn't there or something. Neither happened guess they don't want to sell anything there not quite sure?

I think Reeves has gotten too high brow for it's own good. Since they sell porsche and maserati and I've seen quite a few Ferrari up there they've gotten snotty

I only use them for things I can't do myself. That said, they've done alright by me, when I've needed them. They were around 25% higher than independents on valve cover gasket but I decided to go with them to have the two year warranty. They also helped me out once with an emergency. You do pay for the cost of having newer loaners, comfortable waiting areas etc. Their charges for maintenance items is high, considering many things can be done by any competent mechanic.

They have tried to up-sell things to me. My first warranty visit was harder sell than buying the car.

25% for valve cover gasket? I paid 50% less than they quoted me somewhere else in Tampa.

I bet the average person who buys a new BMW from Reeves (or other BMW dealerships) has no idea that e90post exists, let alone ever consider DIY'ing their own car for maintenance, repair or mod. Customer is more likely to be a highly paid person who just wants their car fixed, and "spare me the details".

So that's who they (Reeves) assume you are, unless you prove otherwise.

A) That's the most ignorant thing I have read in a while.
B) As much as the forums can be helpful they are also the most ridiculous things. I've lost count how many people have come to a shop and said "but the forums said it was an easy job, why do you need to charge me $xx?" or "I got these specs off the boards, this is what I want" when they're completely wrong.

Yes, plenty of knowledgeable and helpful people around the boards, but plenty of morons too who talk out of their asses (for lack of better wording).
