Is it true that Acura TL is faster than 330i? And, handles like RWD?

Hello everyone, this is my first post...i've been lurking for a while, and mostly posting my E90 stuff on my main BMW board (maxbimmer.com)
Well...to settle this argument...really, leave it to Vicki Butler-Henderson http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...2&q=FWD+vs+RWD |

I had 3 Acura’s, two of them TL's. First was a 2002 TL-S and second a 2004 TL Auto. They are nice cars without question, but not comparable (stock) to the 330i Sport Package I drive today.
From body roll, to steering response and feedback, the 330 is a borderline sports car, while the TL is a borderline grocery getter. If you have kids and still like to drive in luxury, the TL is a great car at a reasonable price. If you sometimes think you can travel back in time if you go fast enough, you are a born BMW driver. Just my $0.02 |

Speed=Time=ultimate luxury in Euro. In USA with speed limited, you might as well be floating in your living room watching a movie and eating a BigMac.

I'm about to revive this thread...it's been like 6 years so there should be more 330's and more stories out there other than these old ones. So a friend just got a 06 TL base (not the type R so I won't believe a 0-60 below 5.9 I know that for sure) and I want to know what to expect if a proposition to drag comes up. There's a lot of debate between us now lol also a friend just got a 2012 V6 Accord Sedan. It's a grey sky when our 330's are competing with those. Anyone else have anymore experiences versus a TL or anything of the sort?

I had a TL. Torque steer sucks, and no matter what anyone else says, 0-60 is very low 6's. I'd take the 330 all day.

Had both a 330 & TL 6MT's at the same time; the 330 was a bit quicker but if you mess up the TL can win. A new 6MT V6 Accord coupe is quicker then either of them.
BTW if you understand drag racing that front end lift is a bad thing in a FWD & a good thing in a RWD.

I would be hard pressed to see a 06 TL base beat a 06 330i.

Are you talking automatic? I believe Honda has claimed 5.9 second 0-60 for most of their V6 6MT since 2003.

awesome thread bump.
had an '05 TL AT w/Nav. The only thing I miss is the vtec growl. Twitchy at high speed, go cart ride, holy torque steer with snows (which didn't help).

My daily is a '06 6MT TL w/nav. Only mod: factory sport suspension, since the stock is a joke. Between a E9X 330 and TL (both stock), it's a driver's race IMO.
With that said, RWD>FWD and the BMW is a better driver's car by a mile. Though, the Honda NAV is superior. I bought my TL barely used in 07 b/c I needed a car I could rack 30k miles a year on at 25+ MPG, carry people and stuff comfortably, enjoy nice tech and not deal with failures. Mission accomplished - it's probably the most reliable car I've ever owned (and I've had 15 or so) Now that I drive 16miles a day the TL will be going away, hopefully this week

Is this TL a Auto or 6MT
Back in 06 when I was shopping I test drove the new 330i and TL at the time and felt the 330i was quicker than the TL AFTER 60mph and kept going strong even after 100mph vs the TL started run out of steam after 100 because of poor gearing. I purchased a TL because I could not afford the 330i with options I wanted. I was able to get a fully loaded TL with Nav for half the cost. Now, mine was an Auto not the 6MT. 6MT should be a better fight and for comparison purposes I race a buddy with a 6MT to see if it was that much faster and it pulled a good 2 car lenghts on me from 40-100.
