BMW Performance Exhaust and install at BMW of Peabody

So I ran across this thread stating that they had deals on all BMW parts and accessories. I have been wanting a BMW Performance Exhaust for God knows how long and low and behold it was onsale for $897.44 (uninstalled and picked up).

http://www.jmkbmwaccessories.com/PRO...RMANCE-EXHAUST

For it to be shipped to me, the cost came to $1,044.36 so that brought it to a point that I am hesitating on ordering it now.

I then decided to check BMW of Peabody to see if they would price match. The parts guy at Centennial Drive (Ron) said that he could do $954 plus tax. That would come out to $1,013.63. So in the end, it would only be a savings of $30.73 and I would have to go to Peabody to pick it up. BUT, it still is a good deal I guess because the list price is $1,200 so I would be saving a total of $261.37.

I am waiting for them to get me a total price of parts and labor to see if its something I want to move forward with. Working with Chris in the service writeup team to see what it would come out to.

I know I would love this exhaust but not sure about spending over a grand for it.

That's my story...just wanted to post something I guess, hahaha.

*** UPDATE ***
Chris from the writeup team just called me back and said that they could parts and labor for $1,089 OTD!

I think this is a good deal as they would warranty the parts and labor correct? I also purchased all the items to do an oil change and they said that they would do it for $27 if I just brought my stuff in. So $1,116 for parts and labor to install a brand new BMW Performance Exhaust and Oil Change. Good...bad...should I pull the trigger?

That sounds about right then because $954 plus MA tax would make it come out to $1,013.63 so the cost of labor would be right at the $75 mark.

I think I am going to do it...I have been wanting the performance exhaust for such a long time...granted, I have been contemplating upgrading to a used e93 M3 but now that I will be driving more for work and my payments ending this April...it doesn't seem like the right thing to do. So maybe this exhaust will put a smile on my face when I drive everywhere for work.

Opps NVM: Just saw that you did not have a 335i, really all the more reason not to spend that much on something that will only change sound.

I don't understand why everybody is so insistent on the BMW Pref Exhaust, it does not provide any power-gains from what i have see against other proven exhaust out there.

Granted the other power gains are only like 12hp but still.

I based my choice off this.

Also if you want to go the cheaper route try this from http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=856782 from Robc1976

The 328 BMW Performance exhaust sounds great. If you get it you won't regret it.

I was at BMW of Peabody today! If you had a 335 I'd give you my Eisenmann for an epic price lol

I understand why you would think this way and that has been my thought for quite some time now which is why I have not upgraded the exhaust. If my payments were not going to end in a few months and my work did not require me to drive long distances then I would almost definitely trade in my car and pick up an M3. But that seemed even more ridiculous...to start another 5 year payment plan and absolutely kill the car with miles because of my work travel.

Some would say just trade it in for a 335 and drop another $5,000-$7,000 grand for the difference to make the payments basically nothing but I know the condition of my car and who knows what has been done to a 335 in the past.

I think for what I need...this will satisfy my needs. Granted in a year, I'll probably just trade it in but at least the resale value on these things hold so I would only probably lose like a couple hundred to $300. Not bad for a nice upgrade.

I saw your post and was disappointed yet again that it wasn't for an e92 N52. So I think after a few hours to think about this, I am going to pull the trigger and call them up. Get this thing installed on Monday.

Thanks man!

If work goes well this year...who knows, I could be in an e93 M3 next year and just sell this exhaust to someone for $800.

Wil, have you given Tulley a call to see if they can price match?

I bought my exhaust from jmh and Tulley really took care of me with the install. I can provide you my SA's info. It wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

Yep I'd second this
Check with Jon from parts (you can use my name (Jan) as a reference) , they're great
and very accommodating.
I'll have them install the BMW PE exhaust on my 435 tomorrow

Thanks! So you think they would be able to price match and install for a better price? The Peabody guys just told me that its around $1,148.62 with tax so it's more than I expected.

Just spoke with John.

It looks like Peabody is still less than Tulley.

The total installed would be $1,201.50 whereas Peabody is willing to do everything for $1,148.62.

Guess I will have to make a decision tomorrow morning to get everything installed Monday afternoon at Peabody.

getbmwparts.com is where it's at. Their PE exhaust is on special for $990 including free shipping. If you're able to wait until next week to order, I'm sure they'll have some Black Friday deals that could take even more off - plus you won't pay sales tax. It is the only place where I buy OEM parts and accessories.

Yeah maybe I'll wait. If they go even lower than $990 then I would purchase from them and find someone with a lift or just take it to a respectable shop.

Your PM box is full man

I didn't get a chance to speak to Keith last night as he wasn't at the event. I did speak to Kevin, the shop foreman, about your inquiry and he said your best bet is to call Keith directly and that he may be able to negotiate a better price than Jon.

They probably marked it up since then. It's looking like $950 not including tax for pick up.

Was working with Keith at Tulley but he never got back to me yesterday. He was checking with parts guy. Probably figure this all out around thanksgiving if nothing happens now.
