Pic request - 255/30 on 9.5 stretched?
Is anyone running:
225/35 on 19x8.5 & 255/30 on 19x9.5 ? I'm trying to see how stretched those tires would be (not exactly a fan of stretched tires). Any close up pics of the sidewall/rim would be appreciated! I know I can go up to 235/35 & 265/30, but I have the tire & wheel protection from BMW , so if I can keep to the OEM tire specs above, I'm golden. |

255 on a 9.5 is barely stretched. in fact, i wouldnt even consider it "stretched" at all. especially if u get tires that have a more square shoulder, like michelins.

A 225 on an 8.5 and 255 on a 9.5 is not considered stretched in my opinion, simply because those widths all fall under the manufacturer of the tire's specifications as acceptable. We've sold this setup countless times, although 235/265 tire combos are much more common. Some tires may look more stretched compared to others though based on their sidewall characteristics.
Here are two examples that I could find on Google. As you can see, one looks more stretched than the other. If you're afraid of stretched tires a slightly wider tire would help eliminate that.

I'm gonna be going with a 225/255 tire setup for the winter on 18x8.5, 18x9.5 respectively. As far as I know, a 225 can handle 7.5-9.0 and a 255 can handle 8.5-10.5 under manufacturer specs. I've seen people stretch a 215 over a 10" wheel before, although I wouldn't recommend it for daily driving, because tires are more prone to bursting, but anything within the manufacturer specs will work fine. |

Depends on what type of tire you're looking for really. Hankook Ventus V12s are true to size, Nitto NeoGens are slightly narrower than the Hankooks, a lot of Bridgestones run kind of narrow, Falken FK452s are supposed to be pretty narrow, etc.
