Any hints on how to reset adaptation with Tool32 ? I can't find any such functionality in Tool32. (In INPA it's pretty straight forward)

Load your DME's .prg file, and look through the jobs until you see adaptation in the title. I don't have access to look at the jobs at the moment to give you the exact ones.

hmm... I actually did that last night. Based on another thread I read, I opened the MSV80.prg (my DME is MSV80). Tool32 just spun it's wheels. No errors, but no finish either. Tried 2 times, same thing. Any idea how long this takes (do I just need to wait longer) ?

I have your setup in this post. Which reminds me - I never got any reply to my related question: what is the posted "INPA Fxx.rar" used for ?

Right click on Tool32 and run as admin.

The Fxx files are for F series if you plan on using BMW Standard Tools for that.

OK, the admin launch solved the tool taking off. But of the adaptations that I found (attached) not only I cannot figure which to use (the fist one / select deletes ?), but also how to use any to clear adaptations. Can only assume this is by design so opaque/unfriendly...

Help ?

Edit: I answered my own question.

I downloaded the BASE and E89 DATEN files. Stoked to get started tomorrow!

Thank you, OP (and everyone else in this thread), for all the useful information and help!

I'm using this link for the daten files...

https://mega.nz/#F!4pQjXRYb!YmZcD6u1taTxzmiCbn5TDA

The page won't open. Anyone have a working link to the daten files?

I've already got this program working well for my e90. What is involved in hooking it up to my e46 to read codes? Also, my e46 has been in winter storage since Nov and I'd rather not start it up now. Would it be the same to read codes as the e90 where I hook it up and turn it to accessory?

Thanks

You'll only be able to read engine & tranmission codes on your e46, if you want to read all the modules you'll need to bridge pin 7&8 on your cable.

Is there anything specific I have to do setting up the program, though? Can I set it up to always be able to read E90 or E46 depending on what I'm plugging into? I can just get a second cable.

The programs read all E-Series. You choose which car your currently connected to when your ready to diagnose or code.

Got the daten files downloaded and everything installed. I ran INPALOADER and tried to read codes from my E46.

There is no battery or ignition in INPA despite my ignition being on. When I choose the engine and S54B32, I get an error below

SYS-0005: OBJECT FILE NOT FOUND. Program will be stopped!

Any ideas?

Sounds like you don't have the datens installed correctly. Find a tool called "bmw coding tool 2.5" & use it to load your datens.

You also need to make sure that you have the correct cable for the E46, as it requires a different cable than other E chassis.

Wouldn't he be getting an interfaced disturbed error?

As long as his car is doesn't have the 20pin under the hood he should be able to access his engine & trans through Inpa regardless of whether 7&8 are bridged.
