UK chat thread
What do you lot reckon to a sticky UK chat thread? It would stop the UK forum being filled up with lots of random threads and everyone could "chat" in the same place.

i dont think there is anything wrong with the forum as it is.. there is a good proportion of sensible question asking posts and the general lighthearted stuff!!
dont why it needs to change?? its not over filled with shite.. its pretty cool i say leave it as it is!! Carlos

And as someone who doesn't like to "chat" at all, I think you should take Carlos' post very seriously.....
I like the chat amongst the serious stuff, would be very quiet on the serious fron otherwise.

I think the UK forum works really well. I like it because of the banter and English humour. I vote to keep it "as is"

Not what I meant - I like the chat in the threads, I was thinking more about not needing various threads that discuss (insert whatever here) - they could all be in one place. A place to drop in say "hello - I'm feeling pants today" then leave etc.

Ah I think I know what you mean. I was going to post something about planning permission for example - comppletely irrelevant so I didn't. However if there was an "Off Topic" section (I suspect Carlos would never again be seen in the "On Topic" section) then that would be great..... is that what you meant?
Bit like this on this pc forum ? http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/in...rum&forumid=16

I'm kinda in agreement with 1stnewcar on this. I think its good to have some banter and it makes the forum a bit more light-hearted. It also obvious that a few threads go off-topic quite easily, which I think is also kinda ok
What I think is a complete waste of time, is threads started like this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81547 which are completely pointless and irrelevant, especially when the first 14 posts are between two people (maybe its the same person logging in with another userid just to make it look as if somebody actually cares)

It brightened up my morning Carlos - I think they're suggesting a separate forum area under UK for that kinda thing. Seems fair enuff.

It'd be a difficult balance - I do think the UK forum is too "light hearted", but if it all disappears into another sub-sorum or single thread, will it make the main technical/car related stuff too quiet?
I'll admit that when I come in I invariably think, "god, it's full of shite in here", then I remember that there's all the other forums on e90post. Problem is, there's so much of that to wade through, I give up after 5 mins. And the shite in the UK Forum is usually funny I do feel it puts people of posting questions though...

Probably some truth in this - if a "newbie" finds us and see's its full of banter between the "regulars" it could put them off if. It's maybe become a bit of a boys club and this can seem off putting to others
A difficult balance I agree. So far, the poll is in favour of staying the same so thats good enough for me. If it changes, then the majority want it that way and that's good enough for me too.

Is that what you hope for with your thread starting posts? Like the laptop keyboard saga.. which managed to generate a lot of replies... the last helpful one being from SilverBMWZ3 that you seem to have chosen to ignore, with not so much as a thanks. Did you really spill tea on the keyboard, or was that just another attempt to create some more attention for yourself?
