Ehhh,so I stopped at a red light, it went green I hit the gas & the car will barely move. 2 secs later the gear icon comes up. Torque app shows these 2 codes: P17E5 and P17E1.
Please help, im hoping the Trans isn't f'ed. ..waiting on tow truck sorry if this is in the wrong section.. Last edited by WickedB; 08-04-2012 at 01:11 PM.. |

No, fan turns on. Plus the gear icon comes on indicating a transmission issue. Which is consistent with the symptoms. The question is WHAT exactly wrong with the Trans???

And what do you mean using the shifter so much? I haven't seen any other examples of this.... |

Researched the error defnitely transmission related..read some posts of possibly mechatronics sleeve being the cause which is better than tranny replacement..lets hope thats what it is..have u ever changed out transmission fluid? Pan? Filter?..just curious..I'm trying to track negative outcomes from people changing out "lifetime fluids" .

Given it was a sudden issue I am guessing it is more likely one of the electronic silenoids that the computer triggers to shift the transmission internally. You will have to get an expert to look at it. Could be much less than a unit failure. Much more likely a component that can be replaced. |

new twist
So today I go to my moms house to work on the car + I brought my laptop to pull the codes w/ the JB4 software thinking it may be more accurate; the codes it pulls are: 3100 - low boost mode , 2A87 Outlet-Vanos cam control test, mechanics, and 2F80- Motor shutoff time, plausibility. Didn't see these at all Friday when I pulled the codes w/ the Torque app.
So I start the car, the service engine soon light is still on, BUT I shift into drive and let off the brake and the car starts moving like it normally would! (Friday it wouldn't move... it was like it was trying to start off in 6th gear & couldn't overcome obviously). So I clear the codes, light goes off, and I drive around my city for a few miles and on the freeway... Car is driving fine, and no service engine soon light! I'm going to get the car on a lift soon and check everything out.. + get the trans fluid and filter changed../ check for loose connections... IDK... I'm just happy it doesn't look like the trans is totally screwed... |
