Review on Detailed Image MF Waffle Weave Drying Towel

First off I have to give a big thanks to George for all the help and advice he has given me in the past few months

Alright so last week I received my waffle weave towel and didn't get a chance to use it till today and I gotta say I'm loving it!! it's like a big sponge, but only its not!!. It drys the water up unbelievably fast, all I had to do was just slide it and it absorbed all the water. I don't even think I had to put any pressure and usually you have put light pressure. And the edges are made of silk so you know your not going to damage the paint with swirls.

Ok so first I just washed my car with a sheep skin mitt just a fast wash. Second I used the flood method were I just used the nozzle of the hose and watered the car down this takes a majority of the water off the car already so its less work . My car has 4 coats of Zaino so the surface was silky smooth , but anyway after the flood method I whipped out the waffle weave towel and this just thing works wonders without having to worry about leaving scratches or swirls my only regret is not using this a long time ago!!! This blows regular MF in the wind heres a picture just to give you an idea as to how big it is (sorry for the crappy picture its a camera phone)http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1192052188

Ej - Have you used any other MF waffle weaves before? The only ones I've used are Pakshak and Excel detail.

I'm not sure what the difference maybe, but I think it may have to do with the quality of the materials maybe George can give some input on this.

I've used the one from Pakshak it was ok, but I personally believe this blows any other MF waffle weaves out there

I can't comment on the autozone towels, I haven't used them. I have used Pakshaks, but not Excel Details. Patrick sells good products, so I am sure his is very good. I thought Pakshaks was ok, but it was a bit fragile for me. I wash a lot of cars.

RE: George's, about a year ago his mf selection was only ok, the WW's were average but not great. Recently (4 months or so), whoever he uses changed, or changed how they make the towels; they are now, far and away the best mf waffle weaves I've used. FWIW, I have no financial incentive or otherwise for saying this, I just have 5 of them and I always reach for them first. I can dry a whole car with one easily, and so far the longevity has been good.

Proof is in the pudding? I just ordered 20 more from him. That's $400. I know not everyone likes the same stuff but for me they work wonderfully.

A side note; I don't like the ultra plush towels he sells (or any ultra plushes really), but his general purpose towels are my favorite for polish'/wax removal. I literally have over 100 of them. They are similar to pakshaks, but the bonus is they are like the energizer bunny, they last for friggen' ever. I've got over 50 washes on some of them and they are as soft as they were the day I got them.

I agree with you Picus on everything, but the ultra plush towels I kind of like them I use them to buff off polishes they work pretty good, and then I use the general towels for waxes as you stated.

The thing with ultra plush towels is that they tend to grab at the paint and unfold in your hand. They're great if you're qd'ing some light dirt and are using swiping motions to lightly remove dirt, but for back and forth motions for product removal, I grab some with a shorter nap.

Joy.

in my experience the waffle weave towel over at autozone seems to be alot more rougher to the touch than Detailed Images waffle weave. Both serve the same purpose but Georges towels are more plush and they maintain their usability after washes as opposed to my autozone towels which got slightly more aggressive. i stilll use both but i dont "slide them along the car", i use the method of just placing them over wet areas and patting down the towel, its just another form of avoiding swirls for me.

i have to agree with you on this one Picus, i basically get all my products from George but the ultra plush MF towels seemed fuzzy almost, maybe too plush.

Yeah thats why I went to George, I first thought of just getting them from autozone but they felt like they would swirl up the paint. Also I didn't really slid it on the car lol I was just saying there was no need for pressure.

Good info guys. I like Excel's WW more than PakShak's as well. I bought the PakShak awhile ago though, so I'm not sure if their WW quality has changed. I like supporting Patrick because he's a nice guy and a California local. If I need a new WW, I might have to try George's. It's a bad addiction, but I love trying out different detailing products.

I have the old version of George's waffle weave mf towel and it worked great, or so I thought. Last week I ordered another thinking it would be that same towel. Well I stumbled across this thread and was like, "there is a new towel?". I had had my new towel for about a week now but didn't take it out of the plastic to bother even looking at it. I mean it's just a glorified towel right.

Well I did my winter prep today; wash, clay, Poorboys SSR3, Menzerna IP, Menzerna FPII, and Poorboys EX-P. Let me add the car looks better then the day I took her home haha. Anyways I get to drying the car and rip the towel out of its plastic and notice I have the new towel talked about in this thread. So I'm like sweet, lets see if it works as well as it's been talked up. This towel hands down destroys the old waffle version George carried. I don't know what or how but I dried the entire car and the towel was asking for seconds haha.

Anyways I gabbed enough. Another superior product offered by George. Keep up the good upgrades Detailed Image!

I don't know how I missed this thread. Thanks for the review ejaz, it's greatly appreciated. It's nice to hear how others compare our microfiber selection to other towels they've used.

I'll keep this in consideration when I come up with next months specials

This thread pushed me to buy the WW from DI since my old one from pakshak was starting to show its wear. I figured I'd try something new and I liked how big it was (compared to my old one). Mine's still in the plastic but other than that the delivery was quick and I ordered an all purpose MF too, feels good and looks like it'll hold up for awhile (though I'll probably cut the tag off)

I was tempted to get that new foam mitt but I held off... sticking to my wool mitt for now.
