2008 335Xi w/JB4 - new member

ALCON,

new member here. I have a 08 335Xi, manual, cold & sports package. Recently purchased and had the following installed: JB4, air intake scoops, and clutch delay valve. I would like to know what map is best to drive. Currently on 5 but reading some of the posts on here - thinking I should be on 2.

I immediately noticed difference with JB4 installed and pleased with it but want to know I am using most advantageous map.

Thank you all - out.

map 2 with 93 octane, works fine as a DD. Map 7 if you ever want to try it needs race gas or 50/50 mix of 93 and e85

Mix 93 & e85? That works like race gas?

Yes, generally between 97 and 99 octane. Search around there are quite a few threads on n 54 tech.com forum about it.

Map 2 is for bolt ons, the least you can do to run map 2 is run downpipes and 93 octane.

Map 0: Stock bypass. This is the only map you may use a BT cable with.
Map 1: 13psi (suggested for most stock applications. Conservative mapping.)
Map 2: 14.5psi (suggested for bolt on mods with 93 octane. Close to JB3map 7.)
Map 3: Progressive meth (see guide to enable)
Map 4: Stock map w/ CAN active. Soon to be our economy map.
Map 6: Custom map. Active but be careful with it.
Map 7: 16.5psi. A light weight race map.

MI6 thanks again much for the info. I researched and found that info as well but my question then is what is map 5? The shop that installed it for me, a referral from a buddy, said they have it on map 5. And in most descriptions like you have, 5 isn't described. Also is map 1 then the best option? Only "mods" I have are air intake scoops, clutch delay, n JB4.
Thanks again for the info.

Map 5: Autotuning map. Boost ranges between 11-16psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications.*

Head over to n54tech.com for more info on JB4...

I thought e85 can ruin the injectors. Does it work in this case because this is in a sufficiently low concentration?

Never heard anything about the injectors, but high concentrations of ethanol can break down rubber in seals. Generally this is the biggest issue with running e85, the second biggest issue is that your fuel system needs to pump a much larger volume of fuel when running e85 because it takes more e85 to make the same power.

Most fuels in the USA have 10% ethanol already, so the thought was running 50% is tolerable to the fuel system. Still somewhat risky if you ask me, that's why I'll only run it every now and then when race gas is unavailable and I've run out of Torco ($20 will turn 8 gals 93 into 104 octane, or $2.5/gal extra over 93 cost).
