If I could do it all over again, I would go with the e92 35
I could do it now but will get ass raped on the loss of money for this car. Basically throwing 6k in the trash since the value dropped a lot on it, I would get back what I owe so the 6k is a wash :/
I'll wait it out a little longer, for you, if you can do it, DO IT

Do you guys expect values to fall significantly when the new 4 coupe is released? I'm interested in a 335 too, but am concerned this is the wrong time to buy.

If you buying Used one then make sure its CPO, these cars do cost a lot if not covered under warranty, they have their own share of problems just like any other Car on the road.

You will see a big difference in power and handling between 335 ans 328.
I love my 335i.

Go to Dealer and trade in 328xi for a low mile CPO 335i E92

Don't do it, 335i's have major issues with turbos failing, you will have to replace your fuel pump 50 times. Headlights popping loose when it run over bumps. spark plugs need adjusting every 40 miles. You have to keep spare water pumps in the trunk because to break too. CEL coming on if you accelerate too hard. Just a money pit. But put JB4+ on it and you'll be smoking M3's all day long /End Sarcasm

Sounds like you my friend, have a lemon.

That or you are one of those people that believe everything they say on the the internet, your statement about MAJOR issues with turbos failing is inaccurate, asides from the common wastegate rattle which really doesn't affect your performance in any way bmw turbos are actually pretty reliable and like any other turbos eventually need to be serviced or replaced because believe it or not most turbos out there do need servicing at some point specially if you throw on a jb4 to beat m3s all day/Not done with sarcasm.

Fuel pump issues, sure they are common which is why BMW addressed this and will replace them for free every time with no cost to you and likely a loaner vehicle which then again it implies no trouble to you up unto 120k.

Water pumps just in like any other car hit the shitter after a certain period of time, and with am extended warranty that will cost you upwards of $1400 you can have that covered as well as many other things that will break after time just like any other car (i.e starters, alternators etc etc) so believe it or not even BMW has come up with a water pump that lasts forever or even more so a car that something doesn't break on every so often!/End of Sarcasm.

So if you are one of those people who expects to give a car its required maintenance and then some(if you beat on it here and there) i say go for it, a 335 is such an upgrade in so many aspects and i think maybe 1 in 10 people out there regret doing it and that probably is because their car is a lemon, not well maintained or constantly abused. You'll never look back, i promise and if you're anything like me you'll make your wife/gf buy one too
I don't think you caught my sarcasm...

here is how i see it.

if you have a 335i, just get a JB4 and turn off the turbos (map 8). 0 PSI meaning its pretty much a 325/8/30. with the JB4(procede/cobb etc) you have so many options. You can run it like 328 if you want, then in a matter of a 5 seconds, have an additional 100hp with then tune (comparing map8 to map5).

That is if you want to mod it. if youre going to keep it stock, keep the 328. stock 335i's arent jaw droopingly fast. tuned 335i's however are very quick. IMO a perfect daily for a car enthusiast who wants a quick and comfortable car. quick as in 0-60 in less then 5 seconds.

DO NOT DO IT. Injectors x2, hpfp, radio, hvac fan, creaky front suspension and steering pump hoses and rack are what I dealt with at 50,000 miles. Almost every 335 can EXPECT these problems. After that you get to spend $800+ on walnut blasting your intake just to keep it running.........

of course, if anything this is the right time to buy. 335s are just getting cheaper and cheaper.

newer models... older models depreciate. sucks that the 335i has really really really bad depreciation ever since it came out. i got an 07 model in 09 for less then half the sticker price. so i could only imagine what it is worth now.

Since I've had my '07 335i Coupe (bought it in late 2010), I've gotten the turbos/wastegates and fuel pump replaced under warranty. Since then I've spent a little over $4,000 on maintenance (including tires). I don't *expect* to have to drop any serious coin for repairs anytime soon.

Expect to spend an average of $~1300 a year to maintain properly (tires included) for the first few years or perhaps the lifetime of the car.

All warranty work take it to the Dealer under CPO, you only pay $50.
All maintenance work find a good independent BMW shop and they will save you ~60% of the costs as compare to Dealerships..

Labor cost are higher but parts you can find reasonable $$$ f you look around.

Do it. They are so cheap to buy these days, so you are getting A LOT of car for little money. 335i are a great value buy, even if you factor in repair costs.

I know... I think you guys are catching my sarcasm. Since I've joined everyone here makes it like the 335i is the worst car to own and give the implication it will break down daily. I was a lurker for a while but decided to go ahead and do it and so far I have no regrets.

I have driven both 335i and 328i coupes.
I was totally impressed with the 335i engine, so much that I decided to buy.
Now I have one and do not regret it (one week old 42k miles) I enjoy getting into the power band and really taking off. The potential modding is also a nice perk.

If I did it again, I would repeat my decision and get a 335i over 328i.
You already have a 328xi, so it only makes sense to upgrade powertrain

Do it man but wait a little longer so prices go real low. All cars will have their problems no matter what, have fun with it until a problem comes along, fix it, and enjoying driving the hell out of it but always keep up with the maintenance.
