So far every set of returned used supports have showed no wear. There are 2 polished stripes where the roller of the intermediate rocker rides on but I have yet to feel any wear grooves. I guess super hard die cast BMW metal.

I'd be interested remotely lol What's the cost of the MILVs? Also, I have a custom tune already, but if the price was right I'd run a BPC tune too

A better dyno of Alice with the mod, this go around we had a more controlled setup.
This one is the same tune with and without the mod installed. With the mod, boost does not come in as hard, however, this can be adjusted, I just wanted to make this an apples to apples since it was running the same tune. |

I'm excited to see results on a n55, but I'm not sure it will be similar to the above. Even with a stage 2 turbo, the back pressure is very high. I'm concerned any gains from higher list will be removed just due to the back pressure when both exhaust and intake valves are open.
The real test will be on a stage 3 setup without the stock exhaust manifold. |

The reality is, with more lift you will see the same amount of power added as adding about 2psi more boost without having to actually turn up the boost. |

Another thing is the exhaust cam on the N52, N55, and S55 are just standard cams - you could easily get an aftermarket or reground exhaust cam to balance the added intake air. The same can't be said for the valvetronic cam, which uses a special profile and isn't easily modified.
Heck, the N52 exhaust cam would drop right into the N55 and S55, although it's not known whether that profile will work well with the turbos on those engines (it seems to work well for BPC however). |

I think you will sell them all easily - S55, N55 and N52 combined is a large market. I bet something similar could be done on the N62 as well (of which i have access to two).

Please count me in. I'm committing to this mod fully. One note to make on the Dino chart on this page: does it look like the gain is there only in the upper rpm range and actually losses in the lower range?

On that dyno graph, the boost curve is different, so power will be different.
Getting more air into the engine will lower boost. Need to increase boost back to where it was to really compare boost for boost. I find the graph interesting that the 2 set of runs, with and without MILVs, all the curves cross at 5250rpm and powers all the way to 7000 where before the power started to drop off at 5000rpm. Maybe the lower boost has less valve float which was thought to occur at 16psi in earlier dyno graph causing the drop off in power after 5000rpm. Mind you this is a N52 with turbocharger running 15-16psi boost. Naturally aspirated N52 will be different. Last edited by CobraMarty; 08-25-2017 at 07:04 AM.. |

Thats something we can fix by adjusting the wastegate or the valve lift in the tune. I did a apples to apples dyno pull on the car and the only change was the mod.

I presume it effectively changed the overlap which is why it lost boost at low RPM - would be pretty easy to fix by simply reducing lift at those RPMs by ~0.5mm.

My E90 is NA at the moment, with no boost, should I have to worry about the overlap at all? Just curious.

No. It's completely programmable. The point of the dyno posted by BPC was to show the changes due to the MILVs only. IIRC, they have since retuned it with the stage 2 supports and are sitting at 516whp.
