N55 Engine turn off bc of the power steering pump?

I have an E-series N55, automatic transmission. I am around 58k right now.

I made an U-turn, a real sharp turn, so my engine was running at low RPM and turned off. I had to turn it back on after I put it on neutral.

I dont know what it is, but whenever I turn the steering wheel to the most left or right, it raises the RPM like the power steering pump is consuming a lot of power and making this "hummmm" noise. I replaced the powersteering fluid within the last 12 months.

Is that normal or my power steering pump is about to go out?

There is a DME update that resolves this. Since your N55 is a 2011, you have a MEVD172 DME which falls under the conditions of this SIB.

SITUATION
Intermittently, the engine idle speed may fluctuate up and down or cut off under any of the following circumstances, without any relevant faults stored in the DME memory:

While idling, low-speed maneuvering such as parking, or if the steering is turned to the full-lock position

CAUSE
Unfavorable DME software

CORRECTION
Program the vehicle using the latest version of ISTA/P. Initial DME calibration improvements for this situation were introduced in 7/2012 and 11/2012. Further DME software improvements to completely rectify this complaint are now introduced with the March and April 2013 ISTA/P releases as noted below. For BN2000 vehicles program using ISTA/P 2.49.3 (release 4/26/2013) to the target integration

It looks like the DME needs to be updated.
I am familiar with basic coding but not very comfortable with ISTA/p. Can it be done with KCAN and winkfp?
I wonder if BMW will do this for free since it's a TSB. Do you know anything about this?

Thank you very much for this information. I had no idea about this!

It can be done with WinKFP. Find your current zusb of your DME, then search through the daten history file to find the latest version (I can't remember exactly where it is, but it's in there). Each time I've done an individual DME update, I've found everything works fine with it.

Awesome, I've done the steps to flash PPK. I am sure it's not very different. Thank you for the lead. Will update you. Cheers!

Perfect. You can find the history file in \EC-APPS\NFS\DATA\MEVD17\MEVD17.HIS. This file contains every zusb update there has ever been for every code version of your ECU (up to the date of your daten files). Simply search for your zusb in this file. The file is organized as such:

Code:
zusb, updated zusb1
updated zusb1, updated zusb2
...
Keep searching until the most up-to-date zusb is found. The most recent zusb in your daten files will only have one entry in the list, and is located on the right-hand side. The easiest way is to search a known PPK zusb for your vehicle configuration and follow the chain of updates.

For sp-daten v66 (~Nov 2018), the zusb number for PPK in a USA 2011 E93 Auto/Manual is 8685064.
