2011 328i

have an appt next tuesday to take car in for the pcv and blower motor recall. this moring the blower motor was not working at all. is this because of the recall problem. just dont want to get a bill from the stealership on this any help will be appreciated thanks

It's hard to definitively say if its because of the recall. But you shouldn't have to worry either way. If the blower motor failed, then the work will be covered under the recall. If something else is the issue, the dealer will have to get your explicit permission to get it fixed. Only thing you might be on the hook for is a diagnostic fee if the issue is something else and you opt not to have them fix it. I assume if you made your service appointment only for the recall fix, that shouldnt be something theyd charge you.

If you press the front windshield defrost button, does the blower then come on, or is it still not working?

This will lend a clue as to what your issue might be.

It's possible your wiring is damaged due to melting, which is what the recall covers. Under the glove box there is a panel held on by 2 torx screws. If you remove them and drop the panel down you can get a good look at the blower motor, the connector, and wiring.

In some cases I have heard of owners getting the wiring replaced as well as the blower motor as part of the recall, but that seems to be at the discretion of the dealership.

yeah i figure i will just let the stealorship look at it weds. and see what they replace in the recall and go from there thx
