FRM module? Strange!!

2009 e92

Hi All!

i was driving today and went to flick my indicator on, it didnt work with the soft press so i held it all the way up and it only worked whilst i held it. as soon as i let go it stopped flashing.

then i noticed my headlights and elec windows were not working (the lights appear to be working but the light on the dashboard to say they are on does not light up) same with the fog lamps.

i disconnected the battery for 30 mins as i thought it may be a glitch, this got the windows and indicators working again as normal, the headlights work but the dash lights for them do not come on.

not sure if it is at all relevant but about 200 miles ago it went into BMW for the battery cable recall.

thanks for any help/advice in advance!!

Those do sound like FRM things...
When I fried my FRM, though, windows, mirrors, fogs, turn signals, dash lights, etc all stopped working entirely, and headlights were always-on when the car was on.
Yours sounds like... half-working?
Odd!

it appears i was having a brain fart - these cars do not have a dash light for the headlights on, only when full beam is on? (the blue icon).

so it also appears then that resetting the battery for 30mins has cured the problem, bizarre!! i don't know much about FRM but from reading it seems the issue is caused by low voltage/jump starting corrupting it, i would assume once corrupted resetting wouldn't fix anything? so anyone with more knowledge about them i would be interested to know. only other thing that comes to mind was last night was the first freezing night since last winter, wonder if that has any bearing on it. cars!!

Correct, no dash light for headlights on. The green headlights on light is on the headlight control knob for E series.

how many miles do you have? My FRM went out and had the same symptoms after I replaced my battery. There is a extended SIB on the FRM... https://bimmerscan.com/wp-content/up.../B012016-1.pdf
