It’s not just Minnesota. It’s going on in your state too. Expect more of it with the passage of time.

With Georgia making the move to re-open, I am a little more hopeful I will be able to be by my wife's side at her next doctors appointment. We will likely find out the sex of our twins, and I would really like to be there for that.

Somewhere between completely re-opening the economy like nothing is happening and locked down indefinitely until we can test everyone in the population on a regular basis, is a reasonable approach. Just like you can’t simply snap your fingers and go back to the way it was, you can’t stay in a state of economic suspension indefinitely until all risk is eliminated. As usual, I’d say there are idiots at both extremes.

I deleted the facebook app from my phone because so many people posting stuff like "I hope more people get sick so Kemp looks like an idiot." I couldn't imagine hoping people around you get sick so you can feel like you know more than someone else. So you can post, "I told you so." in two weeks and get 16 likes from people that don't actually give a single shit about you. Really losing faith in humanity because of Covid. Oh wait, this is the good news thread. My bad.

I agree with you that there needs to be a middle ground, and that businesses need to open up again as soon as possible to reduce the terrible financial burden. I also feel as though that's where we and where we are heading. But I don't see any "stay at home" extremists, only "open everything now because freedom" extremists. I'm happy to be proven wrong.

They may not be protesting, but there are plenty of politicians and media members who clearly don’t want to entertain a discussion about how and when to opening anything up. We are never going to get to a point where the testing and contact tracing will eliminate risk and we can’t stay home forever. Meanwhile some of the same media members are inciting fear about the food supply because some food processing plants shut down. To me fear-mongering is a form of extremism but maybe you don’t see it that way.

Ain't that the truth? Some of the wildest things I've ever heard were said on there. Would make Alex Jones blush.

without getting too political yes, there are nuts on both side, but one side is way WAY over the top. you can't really compare them.

That likely depends on where you are. We don't have protests and marches here but we do have a lot of people that are very upset we are starting to open up.

We've had the same here for weeks. Small businesses finding ways to safely serve customers, obtaining permissions if needed, and reopening. My dad's favorite bakery reopened 3 weeks ago for example. It's a small mom/pop shop; they limit the number of customers, they do all the handling of goods, and they are back selling baked deliciousness.

No screaming or yelling, no large gatherings, no emotional flag waving. Just solving the problem and getting on with the business of doing business.

I'm seeing "inconclusive" as opposed to flop. The study itself was flawed. Proclaiming it a failure at this point is just as misguided as proclaiming chloroquine a successful treatment.

Tamiflu is very effective under certain circumstances, especially if given early. But it isn't a cure all for someone with a serious case of the flu who is near death. Still, you wouldn't label it a flop.

Some 'good' news:

This spring has been one of the most beautiful I can remember here in Brklyn. Feb left mild & wet, March started warmish, April sort of cool. The Pear trees had white flowers for weeks. The Magnolias didn't get beat by a hard frost. The ground flowers also didn't get a hard frost. Consistent but light rain has the Cherry trees, just popping now, looking to bust out bigly. Dogwoods are starting, and the woods are turning lime green....

Murf

Same here in the Carolinas.

If we have to be stuck at home, mild weather and lots of clear days make it more bearable.

And to make it even better, pollen season is winding down!
