335 N55 w/ 77K - Suggested Maintenance

Hey,

While the car has been up-to-date with recalls, standard plug and coil changes, I am curious if there are other items I should watch for or even possibly replace before they become a serious factor?

Really appreciate the tips!

I would like to know this as well. Filters would be a good place to start, cabin and air.

At that mileage I would think about:

Gearbox fluid change
Diff fluid change
Serpentine belt and tensioner replace

Just my five cents...

How do you know if your tensioner is bad? Just replaced my belt and didn't see any issues.

If you haven't had to replace the water pump/thermostat you will soon. I would expect it anytime between now and 100k.

Mine went at 50k on the dot, my brothers at 82k. Just make sure you are ready for it to happen.

Just did both of these. Even though the previous owner took decent car of the car, that cabin filter was naaaaasty!

Much appreciated! I wouldn't have looked at the gearbox fluid. I'll check out that belt and tensioner as well.

I'll need to confirm but I think the previous owner did the pump. Are the replacements good for another 50K or are these a continuous issue?

You don't necessarily, though spinning it without the belt might reveal noises. But if it seizes and the belt shreds and gets ingested into the engine via the lower crankshaft pulley seal (yes, this does happen) then you'll wished you'd changed it...

Yeah, I've read about that issue. Probably best to change it at some point. Not too difficult? Have to remove fan shroud?

Tensioner and Pulley Kit. Transmission fluid and filter. Valve cover/valve cover gasket.

Full trans service is usually done at 100k (Filter, pan, mech seals, new fluid). Fluid changes I've heard between every 40-60k miles.

I would 100% do your accessory belt and tensioner/pulleys soon. It's not expensive but breaking one can leave you spending thousands. Ask me how I know....

Also the valve covers on these cars are known to leak. I wouldn't change it until you need to put get on there with a flashlight and look for oil seepage. Most start to fail around 80-90k miles.

Have you had the valves de-carboned (walnut blasted)? My 2008 has about the same miles and the valves were really nasty.
