Diagnose or Swap out DDE?

Anyone know if it possible to deep dive diagnose a DDE unit.

How difficult is it to swap it out with a spare? I see them advertised used on eBay.

I have a weird problem on my hpfp fuel quantity valve, which I've been beating my head against for the last few months which I'm now thinking has to be related to a DDE.

Any decent tuner can clone one for you, but need the original for VIN correlation.
