Pro tool / FRM Module No Interior lights

Anyone have the Pro tool program local to Tampa Area? willing to drive to you, just I have no turn signals, windows wont roll up, and headlights wont turn off. I was told you can reset the FRM Module and it might be the fix vs replacing.

Car has been sitting for a year, upgraded some things, and valve cover and car died after the dyno... Had to use Jump box to get home and had all sorts of crazy lights on the dash that usually clear up after a few miles.

Changed battery as it was in fact dead from 9/14 build date and still no interior lights. But car runs fine, battery registered via mhd. I even flashed back to stock still no lights. I guess I could buy the app and try to reset it before I shell out more $$ on a no FRM Module...however if anyone has one locally that would be clutch thanks.

Nope, your FRM is fried. There are people who can fix that for around $100, but you'll need to send it to them.

I've had the same thing happen to me, mine got fried when I jumped it too. I learned the hard way never to jumpstart a BMW. You will need a new FRM. I think I found one on ebay for like $225 a few years ago.

I just saw on another thread that you also need to replace your valve cover. I've replaced mine and can help out if you need it. It can be a real pain in the ass to get it back on there by yourself. I'm in South Tampa.

there should be no problem with jumpstarting bmw correctly
this problem only with frm3 due bad hardware design
this module can went dead even if you simply read it using diagnostic software, and bmw have recall for these modules in US
and this problem can be prevented with firmware update of the module

Yes, I think there is an FRM recall in the US. Up to 125k miles
These things fry when you try to code or even read codes with a low voltage battery.

I was already over 125K when mine went so I had no choice but to get a new one. This guys got fried from a jumpbox, mine got fried from a jumpstart using the terminals in the engine bay. I would not take the chance on jumping my car again. Right after my jump my car had all the same symptoms he is mentioning here.

Update ... as of 08/2018.... bmw updates the SIB from 8yrs 125k to 10 years 156k for the module and my vin is covered thank god. The prob is is FBO upgraded turbos and crap. Hopefully they don't give me a hard time. Attached is the SIB. Taking in the Car to bmw Monday and hopefully they set me straight.
As much as a pain BMWs can be I'm more impressed with BMWUSA bs MERCEDES-BENZ so far. I like the ride and uhmph of the E400 cause it has twins as well but got bmw To replace injectors, airbag, and that ac blower wire says a lot when it comes to the brand and customer. More To follow

First time in 107k miles I had to jump
Start this car using the cables in the engine bay... if things are getting fried maybe that's why they extended the SIB... bmw over engineers the hell out of things. Replaced my battery and Jesus there's like 6 harness on that thing

Well you lucked out there! I know I was under 156K when mine went out, I wonder if I can get reimbursed? It's worth a shot I guess so thanks for that info.

Ended up getting valve cover set from ECS tuning and paid guys out at midnite tuning in largo which wasn't so bad actually. Brought my own parts and oil and it was less than $600 compared to the 1k quotes I got in Tampa proper. I didn't have the time and luckily I have a garage so windows won't roll up since the module is dead.... debating up flashing MHD .... as long as they stay out of boost I should be good I wanna say factory boost is 8psi but with upgrades might overboost and break things... I can also get s valet map, but that still leaves mhd on the ECU and I think the module needs a fresh ROM To be programmed

Before I found an FRM on ebay I took all my door panels off and manually rolled up all the windows. It doesn't take long, just make sure you put all the moisture barriers back on nice and tight or they will leak.

Ohh smart good yo know. Luckily the daily has a unlimited monthly car wash pass . The bmw has only see. Touch less and that's when I lived in the snow so-the garage is chill till Monday. I also have a car cover but fear the random Florida rainstorms. Good looks

pre cat o2 sensors.... anyone wanna swap mine out for me (I buy you beer/bottle of choice. Parts ordered if and its the two up top... Gnna watch a DIY youtube, however there are certain things I don't like doing which is weird as the PR coil install was cake.

I would like to replace these ASAP before I take the car in for the FRM module to be repaired as I'm also OPEN LOOP on fuel trims due to the stupid sensors.

I don't want BMW gving me crap as I cant even flash back to stock with the PR coils and new turbos on... I am hope the FRM module will be a breeze.

The codes I was getting for the o2's are as follows:

2C9D- oxygen sensor heater 2 before catalytic converter activation

2c93- xygen sensor heater 2 before catalytic converter activation

2C9F- oxygen sensor heater 2 before catalytic converter activation

I could try to swap the plugs, however THey seem to fit naturally Grey/black with no stretch. Any help would be appreciated . thanks

REEVES BMW fixed my FRM same day no charge and car is FBO+ MMPS3 & PR ignition and I had no issues.

The problem I do have is all the coding I had is erased. Anyone local does the digi speedo, mirror fold on lock, parking light delete coding? TIA

I'm down in Cape Coral on vacation and brought my coding cables. Hit me up if you want to make the trip here to knock it out.
