pressurized brake bleeder kit
Looking to install a CDV and flush the brake fluid in the car at the same time. I see Bavarian Auto makes a kit that screws onto the master cylinder. Anyone else make something similar? How well do they work? Ive always just used two people and pumped the pedal forever.

BAV version has a pressure relief valve and the quick disconnect vs the Motive. I have the Motive, works well. But those two are nice to have features. Without the relief valve, you need to wrap around a paper towel on the lid while unscrewing it, because some brake fluid gets sprayed out from the pressure release. The quick disconnect removes the need to rotate the container with the cap while screwing it in. Some caps of Motive have swivel ends, which removes this problem also. Don't know if BMW caps they have, have this swivel. The one I had gotten doesn't.
Advantage of Motive is that, they have almost all kinds of cap adapters for all kinds of cars. If you are planning to use it for other cars, you will find an adapter for one. At the same time these adapters may be interchangeable with some work between Motive and Bavarion versions. Another thing, this would apply to both. Check the hoses on these before each use. The hoses start cracking from inside due to age, then by time the cracks reach outside, when that happens it will spray brake fluid all over with the pressure. It is good to replace the hoses every few years. |

I have the bav auto one and its perfect,
Been using it for many years now on all my BMW's and makes things very easy for one man job, It also does the clutch line for manual cars, I always overbuy the brake fluid and have noticed that if you do all calipers twice the fluid is fully exchanged rather than once each caliper, Habit makes me start with passenger rear, drivers rear, passenger front and drivers front as for bleeding sequence but from what I have read due to the cars having different ABS circuits it doesn't matter what order you do it, I still do it the traditional way mentioned above

I have a Motive pressure bleeder too, but have tried using a check valve and like that much better.

Another vote for the Motive bleeder kit. Works wonders.

Im going to go with the Motive. Just because I can buy the adapter to use it on my Mustang and other vehicles as well.
I will look into that check valve too. Wouldnt hurt to have one either way. |

Motive works great...one way to relieve pressure easily without making a mess is just to slowly unscrew the cap on the bottle to relieve it before you unscrew the piece from the reservoir.
I also don't use fluid in the bottle, I just suck out as much as I can from the reservoir with a turkey baster, and then put in new fluid, and just top off as needed during the bleed...if you are doing it right you will only need to top up once halfway through. If its just a bleed, probably won't need to top up at all until the end. Makes cleanup a lot easier. |
