I think i know the problem

I've seen this before. The map update process only looks at the very first partition on the USB stick and more than likely your USB stick has another partition (maybe even hidden) before the partition with the maps.

This is quite common with USB sticks with encryption options or passwords.

Two choices, use something like Rufus to remove all partitions from the USB stick. IF that doesn't work, try a different brand.

I have no partition and it still doesn't work. I'm using lexar brand USB sticks. What brand do you use?

Does your CIC show the check mark?

Since it has 2010 maps it might not have the correct firmware for this.

Ok. Thanks for everyone's help. I didn't want to spend any more money on this so I bought the cheapest USB stick at Walmart, took 2 hrs to write as the speed was awful. But it works perfectly in the car. So the story here is not buy any fancy USB3.0 or super fast stick. Just get that plain one

I'm guessing there was a hidden partition on your original stick

Even some of the USB formatting tools can't detect them. You want the most basic USB stick possible to do the map upgrades. Avoid anything with a password, encryption, backup options, cloud features, etc.
