CIC Software Update Versions?

Apologies for all the iDrive questions.

I've got the following software versions on a (retrofitted) CIC system.

Is there an update, and if so - what's new please?

Those aren't the firmware revisions... You'll need to go in with INPA or similar and get them. FYI C1A is the latest.

That update is a combox update to support additional bluetooth devices. To update the software go here https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html

Do you need to go to the dealer to get C1A? or is it within the Datens that you download with INPA/NCS expert?

As mines retrofitted I can't use the BMW updates.

Just use a donor car vin to get the download. Mine is WBAKE5C59BE572881 It is the same download for all E series.

Mega bump but I've got the USB socket working and am ready to update.

Unfortunately when I try that VIN it says "already up-to-date"?

I think I just need any combox-equipped VIN to download it... which I don't have.

Google UPD01008.bin. You should be able to find it that way.

I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM.. I got a E90 2011 and I want to update the version of my iDrive.
I already downloaded the .BIN file from the BMW update website with my VIN number but after put the USB in the car its not working.. I checked my current version but there is only TX .. there is no trace of MX !!!

SOFTWARE SUPPORT FOR EXTERNAL DEVICES:
Telephone: TX-003-004-031

so there on my idrive is not any MX-
someone know why this?? Thanks

See inxguy's post above.

The bin file only changes device recognition tables and does not upgrade the CIC operating firmware.

Thanks for posting the .bin file! Got my CIC/Combox Nextgen updated tonight. Hoping it fixes the stuck song title issue. Seems like BMW has pulled the USB update by VIN from their site which sucks. I had an IStep update about a month ago, but was still having issues.

Update: It added a progress bar to the tracks which is kind of cool

The bin file download only updates the device table. It does not upgrade the firmware nor give you the check box on the CIC if you don't already have it.

It is long out of date, but at the time it added support for newer phone models being made then. It may help with later phones. It does not add any features.

I just updated mine successfully (2013 e93 335i). Hoping it fixes my BT issues
