(2) Recaro Profi SPG XL Seats, Recaro Aluminum Side Mounts

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
Sold

Item Interest
Seats:
Mint condition. Very meticulously taken care of. $1600 for the pair. Pickup from Woodbridge NJ only.

Side mounts:
Only 1 pair (for 1 seat). Also great condition. $100 picked up, $150 shipped.

I'm turning my car to a more hardcore track car, and I don't want to dirty up these 'premium' Recaro equipment. I'm getting something cheaper instead.

Update 12/9/14:
Sold to a forum member!

I'm new to these. Does the XL represent the size for the seats? My friend had some on his e92 M3 and the seats seemed a bit small "tight" for me. I understand they're supposed to hug you, but I am wondering if it's one-size fits all or if they make separate ones.

You're correct. XL denotes the size. If you're a larger guy, these are probably perfect for you, as it has been for me. I'm 5-10, right around 36-38 waist, and typically wear XL or XXL shirt size.

Another thing that made it tough for me to find seats even among the ones that fit my physical size was the harness hole height. I don't know if you'll be using those, but I got a long torso, and most times the harness holes were too low to clear my shoulders. These fit me very well.

I dont get the value of Recaro, I've seen and used them in person, I could easily use a CNC machine / bender, and build a seat just as nice.. What makes them worth so much just the name?

Or even easier a carbon fiber mold.. :/

Sorry, but they do a TON of R&D and crash testing to ensure the seat is strong. The forces these things have to endure in an accident are incredible!
I'd NEVER get into a car with homemade seats. My life is worth more than a few bucks. Recaro IS the premier seat in the industry and they make a ton of seats for OEMs as well.

Bump for a good guy!

These are the Profi SPG XL's, not the regular Profi SPG's. Oddly the XL's are actually more expansive than the regular ones. Currently, I see the XL's on Cyber Sale at THMotorsports for 1100, regular price being higher. Just wanted to quickly clarify.

Just to go further for the safety aspect and design.
TUV approved is a BIG deal in Europe. It's not a test that Recaro does themselves, it's an industry standard test that they MUST pass or they cannot sell their seats in Germany.

Fair enough and good points. I still bet a good chunk of that money is Name, but obvioulst Recaro is a well earned name.
